Want to look better in photos? Don’t say cheese.

Seriously, the fake smile is the fastest way to look like… well, you’re faking it.
Instead, here’s what I tell my clients before a session:

🫢 Think of someone who makes you laugh (or a funny memory!)

🧘🏽‍♀️ Take a breath and exhale slowly
👣 Keep moving — twirl, walk, play, interact
🙈 And above all… pretend I’m not there (until I make a dumb joke, which I will)

The best photos don’t come from perfect poses — they come from genuine connection and relaxed energy. That’s what I’m always aiming to capture.

I used to think professional photos were just for milestones…

Newborn shoots. First birthdays. Maternity sessions.

I thought that’s when you earned a photo session.

But the older I get—and the more I see families grow, change, and move through the everyday stuff—I realize those in-between moments are the ones I’d give anything to freeze.

The gap-toothed grins.
The way your toddler’s hand still fits in yours (for now)
The sibling squabbles that drive you nuts…

Ordinary days have a funny way of becoming the golden years.
