Be honest: when you are price shopping, are you just looking for the cheapest quote?
I see couples gathering quotes trying to decide on a florist all the time. And that is absolutely within your rights - but I think just gathering quotes isn’t going to give you the best information you need to make a choice.
Gathering quotes to use to compare florists isn’t accurate because there are so many variables that go into each quote. I don’t just have standard prices - I have to figure out prices custom for each couple that approaches me based on the style and flowers that they are looking for. Also, cost of flowers from the wholesaler are changing ALL THE TIME.
My cost is also based on my personal style, how I make arrangements and how many stems I use, as well as my experience, what I pay my freelancers, etc.
Comparing quotes from two florists is not comparing the same service. You might be comparing a BMW to a Subaru, or a Range Rover to a Mazda. (I really know nothing about cars so I’m going to abandon this comparison now.)
I’ve got some idea of questions to ask when you are trying to choose a florist, but my best advice is to use the guidelines for how I choose a tattoo artist: find someone you love and trust, that you think fits your style, and ask them for their ideas for your budget.
Plus, when you tell us you are gathering quotes / price shopping, we instantly feel devalued and like you don’t really want to work with US. And our relationship as client and florist matters so much.
Thoughts? Have I lost the plot?
