Limousine Fact. Did you know that limousines were the first automobiles to boast air conditioning?

While Willis Carrier is credited with inventing air conditioning, in the early 1900s, the Packard Motor Car Company introduced the first production automobile air conditioner.
Limousines and custom luxury cars began adopting AC shortly afterward in the early 1940s.

The automotive air-conditioning unit was terribly expensive and inefficient, and it took up nearly half the trunk space in the limousine!

Thankfully, today's air conditioning units are much more affordable, compact, and effective.

Whether it's 80 or 100 outside, the inside of your car heats up very quickly. Consider what you have in your glove box or lying on your seats; they could bake, or worse, explode, like hand lotion or hand sanitizer. Less than an hour after filming this video, the portable thermometer we left inside the car reached 160 degrees Fahrenheit. Ouch, that's HOT!

For more than a century, HLS - Harrington Limousine Service has been providing family-owned and operated luxury ground transportation in New Jersey that has expanded to nationwide service.

In 1923, Alex Wilner founded Wilner’s Livery Service, Inc. (WLS), driving Pierce Arrows and Packard Limousines. His point of operation was a telephone pole located at the Perth Amboy Railroad Station. Wilner’s Livery was a strong blend of Personal Chauffeur Drivers and Funeral Livery. Soon after, Alex’s son, David, joined the family business. Together, they built Wilner’s Livery Service into New Jersey’s largest funeral livery.

Staten Island Funeral Livery was acquired, extending their reach across the Hudson River and expanding into both Staten Island and Brooklyn, New York.

In 1974, David acquired A. Harrington Limousine Service (HLS). Harrington had a rich tradition for fine luxury transportation to the “Elite New Jersey Business Traveler”. David built this business with attentive service and quality vehicles.

Today, David’s son, Jonathan, with the help of the HLS team, is at the helm, bringing better service and innovative ideas to maintain and exceed client satisfaction. In its 103rd year, WLS and HLS are proud to be one of the “Nation’s Oldest Chauffeured-Driven Service” under continuous family ownership.

Did you know? The air conditioning in your car is rated to adjust the temperature inside from 10 to 30% of the temperature outside. When you're in your car, you can open your windows when you turn the AC on, and that will force the hot air out while conditioning the air to be cooler inside.

While you don’t have to agree with everyone, you may be surprised by what you’ll learn from the people you meet during your travels.

Keep in mind that people in different places may have lifestyles or customs that vary from your own.
