2026 marks 10 years of what would become the 309 Punk Project. ICYMI, 309 Punk Project began when Terry Johnson of Sluggo's and This Bike is a Pipe Bomb came up to Scotty in the fall of 2016 and said, "I've got a great idea about how to save 309! OK, hear me out!" Well, the idea originally proposed morphed in many ways, but a lot of the original plan and spirit remains. Born as a means to save the house, the concept eventually grew and expanded in ways we couldn't have foreseen. What started as 309 N 6th Ave, turned into the 309 Punk Museum, and later (after we did the "Punksacola" exhibit at the Pensacola History Museum), turned into the 309 Punk Project. Since then, we've hosted close to 50 artists in residence, expanded our archives, released 4 books, travelled all over to tell our story, and more. We couldn't have gotten this far without the support of our community, including our founding members, amazing board of directors, and Comrades of 309. We truly appreciate all of you who've been a part of this journey. To celebrate 10 years of 309 Punk Project, we'll be doing lots of events to mark the occasion (stay tuned), but first wanted to thank you all and wish you all a Happy New Year. We love all of y'all from the bottom of our hearts. Thanks again. Up the punks!
