PENSACOLA COMPOSERFEST XXI
Come out and enjoy the original music of mostly area and regional composers at Pensacola ComposerFest XXI - 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, September 20, at Pensacola State College’s Ashmore Fine Arts Auditorium, Building 8, on the Pensacola campus.
This free event provides an opportunity to hear a variety new music written by contemporary composers, most of whom are attending the event. The works on the concert consist of a variety of instrumental works and works for multimedia and fixed media. 6 of the 25 compositions on the concert will be world premieres. Pensacola ComposerFest XXI will be headlined this year by featured performing artist Eunmi Ko, a pianist from Tampa, FL and Professor of Music at the University of South Florida (https://www.eunmiko.com/about).
Ko will present a Fifteen Minutes of Fame set (Vox Novus) of fifteen one-minute works for toy piano. The composers featured in this set are Maria Christine Muyco, Aaron Krister Johnson, Mike McFerron, Leo Brauneiss, Amelia S. Kaplan, Robert Voisey, Stephanie Henry, David Bohn, Melinda Faylor, José Jesus Azevedo de Souza, James Bohn, Michael Coleman, Robert Fleisher, Erik Branch, and Anicia Kohler. The other ten composers on the program are David Bohn, Danylo Cherkashyn, Braden Dees, Kevin L. Fails, Holland Hopson, Kadisha Onalbayeva, Robert Normand, William Price, Jerry Sieg, and Joseph T. Spaniola.
Other performers on the program are Steinway Artist Kadisha Onalbayeva, along with pianists Danylo Cherkashyn, Michael Coleman, Jermel Kidd, Blake Riley, and Isabella Smith, joined by Kevin L. Fails (French horn), Tag Gilbride (saxophone), Holland Hopson (banjo & live electronics), Caleb Owenby (trombone), Isaiah Richter (violin), and Abigail Walker (bassoon).
