One of my side hustles is candle making and I've been working on creating candles that fit the needs of weddings and elegant dinner events. If you, like me, are sensitive to regular paraffin candles, these all natural beeswax candles will be a welcome change. They burn long and clean (long enough to light for the photographer to get photos of your reception room & still last through dinner no problem) and bring a warm ambience.

This weekend marks my last booked wedding for the foreseeable future! It’s been a little over 7 years since I started Radiant Events. These years have seen somewhere between 50-75 weddings (I lost count), learning curves, a husband gained from the industry, a lot of pivoting, many many wonderful vendors in the industry, and many personal changes as well. I’m not closing the doors of Radiant Events at this point but I am taking a sabbatical from active planning and coordination. I am and will continue to offer consulting services to couples who are planning on their own. I very much am looking forward to having some more weekend freedom during the remainder of this summer & some more mental energy to offer to my family. Additionally, Joe and I are always adding creative pursuits to our lives which brings fun & a smidge of crazy! The best is yet to come!

Here’s a little PSA that I’m excited to share with you - at this time Radiant Events is at capacity for planning & coordination clients! In the interest of maintaining health + quality in wedding work + mothering two small children + allowing space for other creative projects, I’ve determined that it is necessary to limit the number of projects that I am managing at any particular time.

However, I am offering individual coaching appointments for couples that are planning on their own (link in bio). These appointments offer you the opportunity to ask relevant questions to your specific circumstances & receive personalized, actionable steps for your planning. I don’t believe that it can ever be overstated to create space on your wedding day. The common theme that I hear from newlyweds is that the day goes so fast. One of the best ways to make the most of this investment of plans & money is to plan less events and allow for more time than you think you’ll need for every event of the day. Schedule breaks into the day & release yourself from the pressure to follow Pinterest advice (please)!

Captions are hard because I think there’s a tendency to try to write something flowery if you’re in the wedding industry. The truth is that sometimes wedding days are hard. Sometimes whole seasons are hard. Sometimes marriage is hard. What stands out to me when I look at this gallery though, is although their day was personally hard due to a slow recovery from illness, Jesse and Rachel extended grace to Joe Hy Photography and me as we worked their day. And honestly, that practical grace is the element that is so valuable in hard days, hard seasons, and hard times in marriage. It’s so real and so unflowery, but so necessary to make it through.
