Always dreaming of inspiration.
Lately I'm reflecting on why I'm in this space.
Wedding industry, Instagram, all of it.
Every time I feel like walking away, I get pulled back in.
My desire to create beauty is just too strong to ignore.
I've been living my life mostly offline this summer.
Baking, arranging flowers and making new memories.
I'm reminded of what I love most. What lights me up.
Taking my time to make a space pretty.
Connecting with friends and my sweet family.
But mainly, I'm questioning whether I belong in this space.
A place that is overwhelming, and sometimes too noisy.
Designs that are too loud for my taste and often overdone.
An industry driven on constantly creating and pushing content, sharing more 'social proof' and testimonials.
I get it. Times change. Strategy and platforms change.
But I'm not willing to compromise on my values.
I value quiet, connection, simplicity and hospitality.
Things I have tried to maintain while playing in this space.
Values that feel old-fashioned but remain true for me.
I still don't see myself as a wedding planner.
Even after being featured in top wedding blogs.
Even after being paid five figures for full service.
Even after working with some of the best in this industry.
I want to continue creating beauty.
Continue inspiring others to pursue beauty.
Continue working without losing my values.
I am trying to figure out how to do this in today's world.
Intimate weddings? Yes, please. Elopements? Yes. Editorial work? Yes. Bridal styling? Definitely yes.
Dinner parties? Yesss. Cocktail parties? Yesss.
The smaller the event, the louder my Yes.
Because life is too short to get lost in the crowd.
Life is too short to throw a big party with little meaning.
Life is too short to not hold on to moments that matter.
This probably should have been an email. I never meant for it to become a mini blog post. But if you know me, you know, I'm a lover of words. Reach out if you want to connect. Life is better with those who get you.
With love and light,
Haydee π
