I have been waiting for this moment since the 1990s. I survived Patrick Ewing’s finger roll ri***ng out. I survived John Starks shooting us out of Game 7. I’ve watched decades of heartbreak, but I never stopped believing.

This is the first team I’ve ever rooted for that took it all the way, and I couldn't be prouder. This group defined New York grit, toughness, and pure determination. We finally did it. I’m alive to see a Knicks championship, and it is the greatest feeling in the world.

🚨 ECC EATERY DRAMA ALERT: The "We are NOT a Deli" Chronicles, Volume 3 🚨

Picture this: A lovely customer walks into ECC Eatery. She’s looking at the menu. Enter Chef Charles. 👨‍🍳✨

Chef Charles does what Chef Charles does best—he delivers his legendary, passionate sermon about our freshly baked Focaccia. He talks about making things from scratch. He gives his signature speech about bringing back the lost art of the 80s and 90s, back when people in the culinary industry actually cooked for a living instead of just opening bags and dropping things in fryers.

Th. customer is sold. She orders the Breaded Chicken Sandwich on Focaccia. (Excellent choice, honestly.)

But then... the plot thickens. 🎬

She asks: "Do you make your side salads in-house? Because most delis don't."

Cue record scratch. 🛑

Chef Charles, being Chef Charles, immediately responds: "Of course they are made fresh. We are not a deli."

The customer takes offense. "Well, my parents owned a deli and they made EVERYTHING from scratch!"

Inside Chef Charles’ head: (...I highly doubt that.) 🤐

Suddenly, tempers are flaring. Why? Because comparing what Chef Charles does with food to a standard deli is like comparing a finely tuned Ferrari to a 1994 Honda Civic. We are operating on a completely different level here! This is an award-winning chef pushing back against today’s poor culinary standards. 🏆🥇

Unfortunately, she left a little heated because our look and feel reminded her of her parents' place. Look, we totally get it! ECC Eatery is definitely designed to give you that warm, nostalgic, "wholesome-hole-in-the-wall" feel that transports you right back to your youth. We absolutely love that comparison—it’s the highest compliment for our vibe!

But make no mistake: while our atmosphere is comfortably old-school, our food is definitely not your run-of-the-mill joint. We are serving up a next-level culinary experience.

It is easy to look at a finished plate, a fresh loaf of scratch-made bread, or a busy dining room and miss the weight it takes to get it there.

The truth is, true creation happens under pressure. Leading when you are exhausted, serving the community when your own tank is running empty, and maintaining a relentless standard when it would be easier to take shortcuts—that isn't just work. That is discipline. That is a calling.

People might not always see the early mornings, the sleepless nights, or the sheer sacrifice it takes to stay true to a vision of real cooking and traditional hospitality. They might not see the face behind the kitchen doors.

PSA: To the guy who just stared at our menu for 5 minutes… 🚶‍♂️💨

We saw the look. The confusion. The frantic search for a Boar’s Head poster that isn't there. You hovered, you pondered, and then you bolted.

We get it. Change is scary. But let’s clear the air on why we didn't have what you were looking for:

The "Vintage" Meat Factor: If you came in looking for turkey that’s been sweating in a display case for two weeks, you’re in the wrong zip code. Our ingredients are actually… you know… fresh.

The Slicer Situation: We don’t have a "mystery juice" coated slicer working overtime on meats with no expiration dates. Our kitchen actually sees soap and water. Wild, right?

Beyond the Hard Roll: Listen, we love a Kaiser roll as much as the next guy, but there is a whole world of bread out there that can be discovered at ECC. We’re out here baking real bread daily.

The "Not a Deli" Vibe: We don't do the linoleum-and-lukewarm-potato-salad aesthetic. We do actual cooking. Like, with heat and seasoning and talent.

If you want a sandwich that’s been sitting in its own sadness since last Tuesday, then ECC is not for you.
