Sequoia Caterers of Long Island

Sequoia Caterers of Long Island Sequoia Caterers of Long Island opened in Jan 2023 and was born from Sequoia/Seaqua Deli of Patchogue

Phew! What a great morning so far! We sent over a Continental Breakfast to a location in Patchogue this morning for 250 people. That means lots of bagels, pastries, coffee, juices (like OJ, Cranberry and Apple) fruit salad individually portioned, etc.. We needed a van to squeeze everything in! I write this not to brag but to let everyone know that we aren't fooling around. If you need something, we can and we will do it. Hot or Cold Breakfast? Easy. Gourmet Sandwiches/Wraps beautifully displayed? One of our most popular options. Hot Buffets with delicious entrees and sides? A slam dunk for our kitchen crew to handle for however many people. 20 people is cool. 200 people is also cool. We can do it. You want us to send over a grill and a chef to grill burgers, dogs and chicken? Sure. We've done BBQ's for 300 before. Those are fun. Clam bakes, Seafood boils, authentic slow cooked BBQ, of course we offer all of those too.

The nice thing about this morning is that 2 different ladies saw our display and approached me, one with her card, and they both said they want to use Sequoia Caterers of Long Island going forward. I've reached out to the one with the card already so that she has my contact info. They both know that we deliver all over Long Island. Don't be bashful to reach out to me with your catering needs. I can give you a no cost estimate and explain how we can make your event awesome. You book an event with me? Great! You don't? That's great too!

Have a great day everyone!

Good morning everyone! As you can see, the name has changed. One thing we ALWAYS exceled at were our caterings. From Cold and Hot Breakfasts, to huge affairs at weddings and BBQ's, we can and will do it all. We don't have a physical address, but you can be 100% assured that you will be extremely happy with everything we offer and do for you. For hot buffets, please give me 3-4 days notice. For cold caterings like our most popular Gourmet Sandwich and Wrap platters, please give us 1 day notice.

Because we don't have a physical address that you can visit, we will deliver every catering. Please do not worry; every catering we do will be done with the same care every catering received when we were Sequoia Deli and Seaqua Deli.

It's with great sadness that I bring you the news you probably suspected. Sequoia Deli & Caterers of Patchogue has closed. Last January, the rent was raised by 26% and we were not able to overcome the large increase in rent. We got behind in rent and the landlord did not renew the lease (as is his right). Despite us stuggling and him knowing it, he proposed to raise the rent again this January. $55 a square foot is way too much to pay for a building of that quality, especially when the building across the street from us is 4 times larger and only $22 a sq ft. Regardless, we are very sad that we won't be serving you any longer.

It's unfortunate because we, Nicholas and Mike, loved our customers. We loved seeing you every day or every week. We had funny conversations with a whole bunch of you, and we will never forget the good times.

Except, that is not exactly true. We will still make our catering services available to all. We will handle all of Long Island as we did before. The website will be up and working within a week or 2 and I will keep everyone in the loop. I will also continue to look for another store to open in the area so that we can serve you all again.

Until we see each other again, we wish everyone a Happy New Year and our best wishes for a great 2023.

Hi Everyone! This is just a heads up that the landlord scheduled this morning as the time to fix the giant potholes in our parking lot. Please note that we are open, we are taking orders for pick-up and delivery, and everyone is also able to come into the store. Just be careful when you enter the parking lot.

Hello everyone! It's the Deli formerly known as Seaqua Deli & Caterers of Patchogue. Just letting you know that we are making one little change today. Actually, it's a big change. We've changed the name of the deli to "Sequoia Deli & Caterers of Patchogue". But don't worry. Mike is here, Nicole is here. Chef Robbie is here. The only thing changing is the name, so you should still expect the same excellent service, the same great sandwiches, wraps and salads, the same restaurant quality catering dishes, and the same excellent cleanliness because that is how we operate.

You'll see some changes to the outside of the building when the new signage goes up. We may answer the phone as "Seaqua Deli" for a couple weeks, but that'll pass soon enough.

If you want to stop in today, Our hot specials include Roast Turkey with all the fixin's, Chicken Francese, and Chicken Pot Pies.

Our Recession Buster today is a Quarter Pounder with Cheese, a 1/4 lb of Potato, Macaroni, or Cole Claw, and a can of soda or a small fountain drink.

Have a great day!

We are almost ready. The store is mostly sparkling and the finishing paint job on the ceilings and window sills will be done tonight or early tomorrow. Sunday will see at least 8 of us back in the store preparing to reopen officially on Monday, April 6th. That being said, don't be surprised if you see the "DELI OPEN" sign out on Waverly Ave. Sunday morning. Even though we'll be furiously prepping for Monday, we are planning on cranking up the grill for breakfast until noon or so on Sunday. I've been at the store all week (and of course, every day for months), and I hate that we closed for a week+. I am happy that I had the help of several key employees who helped sanitze and scrubbed the store this past week. It was all precautionary. No one from our store has tested positive. That is what we want, for customers and employees; to be safe, and healthy.
When we open on Monday (and Sunday too, I suppose), we will limit the number of customers in the store at a time to 2. We have our tablet and it's ready to rock even though it's difficult to see in the bright outdoors. If you see a staff member outside, sitting at a table, with her hands inside a large box, please know that she is out there to take your order so that we can get started on your order before you can enter the store. 8) We are doing what we have to.

This is what we are working on now so that we are ready to stay open for as long as we are allowed:
1. Deliveries from vendors will be made and left outdoors. No one delivers before we are already at the store, so they can knock on the back door and leave it on our doorstep. My kitchen staff will get cranky, but they (and I) will carry everything, sans the boxes that were touched by the delivery driver, into our walk-in refrigerator for cold storage. Furthermore, my staff and I will complete the orders for Boarshead, Tropicana, Soda, Produce, Dry Goods, Bread, Gourmet Bread, Proteins, etc. so that they do not need to come inside the store to see what we need. We will wear gloves and we will discard them and replace them after each touch of an item. (If you can buy stock in the glove company, do that now...).
2. We will allow only 2 customers in the store at a time. If you've ever seen us when we're busy during breakfast and lunch, you'd think I'm crazy, but we have a work-around, and I think that you'll love it. Starting on Monday (but we'll be testing it out Friday - Sunday), we will use an iPad with our ordering system loaded on it to take orders..... OUTSIDE! Not sure if you can tell, but I am excited about this. Imagine, if you will, 2 customers in the store and a line forming outside. I'll have one of our register girls out there to take your order(s) while you wait (outside), then when it's time to go inside, your order might already be waiting for you, and if not, it'll be ready a lot sooner than if you just waited outside then gave your order when you went inside. Cool, right? 8)
2a: Or you can call your order in the old fashioned way, tell the register girl working the line that you are picking up, and she'll relay the info inside.
3. I will have only 7 people working in the store until some sort or normalacy returns to our world. That number is down from 17 or 18 during a regular day. I will of course be there, so it's probably going to get interesting. 8)

This too, shall pass.

Hi everyone. I hope this finds you all well. We closed temporarily last Friday morning because of the COVID-19 pandemic. It doesn't and didn't affect us negatively (other than in how busy we weren't). We didn't have an employee who tested positive. I closed the store for safety reasons. My thinking is this: we see a couple hundred customers on a daily basis. There are lots of delis and markets out there. The guys who deliver our Boar's Head products, the soda, Tropicana, Produce, etc.; those guys are going from store to store to supermarket, etc. and speaking to people who may have conversed with their own couple of hundred customers. The risk was too great. We are spending this week SCRUBBING the store and sanitizing what we can. We will reopen for real on Monday, and we'll have a soft re-opening on Sunday morning through noon for our fans who can't wait to grab an egg sandwich from us while we finalize all the cleaning and restocking. I apologize for closing, but it is with everyone else's best interest in mind that I closed the store.

Please watch for the next post I send out showing how we will take special care to try to stay open while the world faces the COVID-19 pandemic.

Mike
