We at Going to the Chapel understand your disappointment and frustration as many venues and vendors are finding it necessary to postpone your wedding day in light of the restrictions required to control the spread of COVID 19. As a wedding planner specializing in military weddings at the United States Naval Academy, I’d love to offer my expertise and knowledge of the Annapolis area vendors to you in providing a “Rebooking Special”. I will work with you for 2-3 weeks in locating venues and vendors available for your new wedding day. If after we’ve worked together to plan your wedding you’d like to continue my services through your wedding day, we make those arrangements.

Cara Fleck is a professional harpist in Maryland, Washington DC and Virginia. As a core member of the Grammy-nominated Inscape Chamber Orchestra and principal harpist of Apollo Orchestra, Cara performs at the Kennedy Center, Strathmore and National Gallery of Art. She appears regularly with the Annapolis Chamber Players. In addition to regularly performing in solo, chamber, and orchestral settings, Cara has played at some of our weddings. We love working with her! She is an approved business partner of the United States Naval Academy business services division, and she always impresses us with her beautiful music.

May 24: Congratulations to Ensign Dimitry Willadsen, USNA graduate of Distinction with the class rank 71st out of a class of 1053. Dimitri earned his degree in quantity economics. His first duty station is the Pentagon where he will be assisting with Russian-US relations. He is a fluent Russian speaker after spending the semester in Latvia. He will attend nuclear power school as the beginning of his career aboard submarines. We are very proud to have been Dimitri’s sponsor parents while he was attending the Naval Academy and we hope to stay in touch with him for many years! @ Navy–Marine Corps Memorial Stadium

“From the start Jan was amazing! She was thoughtful, motherly, understanding, patient, and kind. You see; we were getting married in Annapolis, Maryland. The only problem with this was that we weren't exactly in Annapolis, Maryland. Colleen and I both work for the Department of Defense. Colleen as active duty Navy and I as a civilian employee. Jan was to be our boots on the ground.

To say she thought of everything was an understatement! Jan went well beyond our expectations. She created and managed a day that proved to be the happiest we both had ever had. Jan's attention to detail is only shadowed by one thing... her knowledge and resourcefulness to pull off what seems like the impossible!

From hair and makeup to transportation to DJ's; Jan never let us down. She had vendors for days with backgrounds and accolades equaling almost her own.

From the initial establishment of our relationship with Jan until days after our wedding Jan was there. The late night phone calls, the weekend almost meltdowns, the last minute details a day before the wedding were flawlessly executed by Jan Wise.

I don't think there is enough that I can say about her services.
If you find yourself getting married in the Annapolis area; I'd feel you'd be remissed is you did not consider Jan and the amazing services she provides.”

“It is hard to truly express in words how amazing Jan and Going to the Chapel was for our special day.

I knew day one on the phone that I loved Jan. Instantly, her calming demeanor helped me through planning our wedding in Annapolis, while I was stationed in Seattle, and she also assisted in dealing with strong family personalities.

She was available for us almost 24/7, thought of things we did not think of, and ensured our guest were taken care of throughout the weekend.

The amount of work she puts in from start to finish is far more than what she charges.

Our wedding was perfect thanks to Jan. She went out of her way numerous times and truly made everything perfect.

Jan handled all logistics from last minute catering issues (she brought in an assistant to help Maureen who was also AMAZING), assured all printed items were proofread (this is a God Send come seating chart time) access to the Naval Academy and a few new rules at USNA we had to adjust to.

We truly feel blessed to have worked with Jan, we are forever grateful for her services and also are lucky to have gained a wonderful friend.”
