Sometimes God has a way of reminding us of the simplest and most important things....like when I stumbled upon this photo from a 1950's article in the CHICAGO DAILY NEWS....yes, people....1950's CHICAGO!! When RACISM not only existed but Black communities were fighting for basic freedoms and were paying the price for that freedom. And in the midst of it all....two best buddies managed to find FREEDOM IN FRIENDSHIP. Two, real life Tom Sawyers and Huck Finns, who had no mind for bedtime, and found a simple joy in riding a train in the middle of the night with their best friend. I'd love to know where they are now, and yet, this picture -- a moment frozen in time -- depicts a lifetime of lessons...FOR ALL OF US! In light of what is happening in Chicago and other cities, now....CHOOSE TO SEE THIS!! CHOOSE TO NOT JUST FIND BUT TO CREATE THESE STORIES....Because they DO EXIST! If they could happen then, when the world seemed to be turned on its head....they are happening now!

Yesterday we did our first event since Covid shut everything down. Yes...it was a memorial and it was for a precious family we have been doing business with for many years! With no "clear" guidelines, we did what we knew to do, to keep our clients and their guests as safe as possible. Lunch boxes, individual water and iced tea, pre-poured lemonade and coffee with condiment packets, hand sanitizer and social distancing. We rejoiced in seeing just a few of our staff and making our clients' day as special and safe as possible! Everything was "grab-and-go," with full lunches served in craft catering boxes. So happy to be back at work! Hang in there everyone! Events are coming back!

So today we get to plan a memorial for the mom of a precious family, who we've known for many years in the course of our business. As strange as it may sound, the JOY it brings is indescribable! The JOY of being back at work, the JOY of planning an event again, but even more...the ABSOLUTE JOY of reconnecting with our clients and making their day as special and stress free as possible. This is what we LOVE!!! Memorials are our THING, and we are so ready to make that happen for anyone who has had to wait to celebrate the life of a loved one. We are Covid compliant. We have protocols in place to ensure that everyone is safe and FEELS safe. From food service to wait staff, we are prepared to continue to do events under our new protocols.
