So we are all aware of the high cost of food, the pressures of kids home for summer without supplemented school programs and just how expensive life is in general. Families need a break...
Our event venue, Edge Lake Farm is hosting a Summer Food "Bridge" program to help families with school enrolled and school aged children supplement their pantries. No names are needed, we just need a pick up time and the age of your child. Pick up times are every Friday in August from 7am-11am. Volunteers have already been donating, shopping and planning for boxes of shelf stable, easy to prepare foods and snacks to help out our local families.
Please note, we are not providing a medically supervised diet, just concentrating on the availability of high calorie foods to help parents through the final month of summer. Parents should be conscientious of the foods and any allergies.
Please feel free to to email us, text or call the number on the attached flier to enroll your child. Small things make big differences in local families lives. (Also feel free to let me know if you care to donate food, gift cards or volunteer).
This program is open to the communities that abut us: Parsonsfield, Wakefield and Effingham.
