Vendors are the creative powerhouses & backbone of the shore.
Cause you know her. She’s your kids teacher, your house cleaner, she’s a nurse…she’s a yoga instructor. She’s the MVP there. Her drive, her ambition. But then……then after showing up like a superstar at work…after she shows up at the vendor market. Maybe on a 3rd Friday or at The Family Farm. Or perhaps a Thursday evening at Crown with the Shore Acres The Movement or maybe she’s at the Saturday market in Salisbury. Or A wellness festival like WooFest or perhaps a meet & market Breathe Out Collective . Or all of them!!!
Cause she’s ALWAYS showing up.
Selling her products that she stayed til 1 am in the morning getting right. Perfecting it to her standard of quality. All for you to enjoy.
That is who is at these markets. Not companies. Nurses from Tidalhealth. Teachers from Wicomico & Worcester Wicomico County Public Schools. Servers, cleaners, store managers, moms working two jobs who call the third & fourth one a “hobbies”.
The market is not what pays their electric. It is what they built on top of everything they already have to do. It’s the passion that fuels it. They love creating*!
Think about that the next time you are holding an $18 candle deciding if it is worth it.
Cause around here, a market is the place in shopping where the person who made it, the person selling it & the person taking your money are all the same person.
You are NOT buying a brand. You are buying someone’s talent, their artistry….their creativity which gave them the drive to do this.
And it’s not just showing up making money. A lot of are vendors for interaction, we love connecting with people, seeing how our products, grows, gifts are embraced.
At the The Family Farm Marketplace Back to School Edition Sunday is when it turns into a field full of people who GET IT. We want community. We want to support one another. We buy from each other. We watch each other's tables for bathroom runs. We send you three booths down when we do not carry what you came for. That does not happen at the outlets. We’re a referral network, you need something….you need the BEST OF SOMETHING. We know where it’s at.
And the support is real money to a REAL household. A slow day is felt by Sunday afternoon. A good one covers the booth fee, the supplies, part of the time & something for the kids.
The Shore is small enough that this actually works. You buy the tea, or the body scrub and then you see her at the grocery store in October, you tell her it helped. She remembers everything, & has something else for you to try. And you tell her how many people you’ve told about her amazing all natural products.
It’s straight WORD OF MOUTH.
That’s a shore thing.
WORD OF MOUTH.
That is the whole thing.
And that’s what vendors have with one another.
So walk the whole market before you spend anything. Learn the story of creation. Learn the vendor. Buy the product. Take the card. Follow the page. Come back next month & tell her. And then buy more.
