“A Boy and His Dream”
As some of you know, I’ve been juggling a lot of hats for a lot of years. Business Owner, Pitmaster, Dad, Husband, Friend, and for the past 20 years a West Virginia State Trooper.
Convicted Pigs BBQ started in 2016 and officially became a LLC in 2017. We spent several years on the BBQ and steak competition trail having fun, but since then, the demand for our food has grown tremendously. That growth is because of an amazing customer base that continues to support us and appreciates the premium product we work hard to achieve. 🙏🏽
Behind the scenes, it has been an absolute grind and test! Monday-Friday working 50–60+ hours in law enforcement; working inconsistent shifts, little sleep, plus the lifestyle that goes along with the WVSP. Then trading in the uniform for an apron to cater weekends while still handling everything that comes with owning a small business. Needless to say, it’s been busy, exhausting at times, but also it has been an incredible journey and blessing. Balancing all these hats has helped mold me who I am today.
What many people didn’t know was that September 2026 had been circled on my calendar for a long time. Last Friday, September 11th, after 20 years of service, I officially retired from the West Virginia State Police. A boyhood dream became a 20 year career, and now that chapter has officially closed.
So what’s next for Convicted Pigs BBQ?
The truth is, we don’t completely know yet.
For now, we’ll continue catering while planning and exploring opportunities to make CP BBQ more readily available. We have ideas for bigger and better things, but we’re also realistic. Meat, fuel, supplies, equipment, and nearly every cost of operating a food business continues to rise in today’s world...
So I’m keeping my options open and trusting God with what comes next. Maybe it’s a permanent home for CP BBQ. Maybe it’s a new concept. Maybe another career opportunity becomes part of the equation.
What we do know…
For the first time in years, one of those hats has been hung up, giving me something I haven’t had much of: time to think, plan, create, and see where this all can go.
20 years of service. One chapter closed. 🔥🐷
Stay tuned. The rest is in God’s hands.
