I remember the first time I walked through the door of Peer Solutions like it was yesterday! I was fresh out of rehab with only 28 days sober under my belt. I was nervous, unsure and battling demons that I thought were my gaurdians in the madness! I honestly didn't see myself lasting a month here but, the support and love that the entire staff showed me did not only motivate me to better myself, but also made me love myself more! They taught me that life gets better as I got better! I myself want to help people the same way! Through this program I've learned to live without chaos and learned how to not run from life and my problems anymore! Now I've regained everything I've lost! Rebuilt bridges I've burned to the ground, rebuilt relationships with those who truly loved me and best of all I'm a father to my children and a lover to my partner! The staff of Peer Solutions may not view themselves as super heroes, but in my story they're nothing less!

We had a great meeting with the Washington County Public Defender’s Office yesterday, and it felt like reconnecting with old friends. We’ve known their team for a long time and truly appreciate their heart for the people we all serve. It means a lot to work alongside others who care deeply about justice, recovery, and second chances. We’re always grateful for the opportunity to team up and make a difference together.

Meet Tayla Kemp-Hays — Program Coordinator at Compass Drug Court, Oriana House, Inc.

Tayla and her incredible team are changing lives across Washington County by guiding individuals with felony-level drug offenses toward recovery, stability, and success. With a focus on compassionate, high-quality care, the Compass Drug Court program is a lifeline for many in our community.

🧠 What’s the impact so far?
👉 In 2024 alone, 11 graduates completed the rigorous 14-month program — gaining access to treatment, housing, employment, and family reunification.
👉 Tayla’s team believes deeply in treating the whole person.

🚗 What challenges have they helped overcome?
“Transportation was a huge barrier,” Tayla shared. “Now, thanks to grant funding, we have our own vehicle to get clients to court, work, and appointments. We also provide housing, clothing, hygiene items, and utility support — helping ensure nothing stands in the way of recovery.”

🎯 What’s ahead in the next 18 months?
✅ Continued staff training
✅ Expanded naloxone education
✅ A strong incentive-to-sanction ratio to build prosocial behavior
✅ Sending staff to national conferences to stay informed on best practices

💬 Success story highlight:
“One graduate battled addiction and serious health issues — and walked out of the program with 846 days of sobriety. He now works full-time, supports his mom, and even helps lead our Alumni Group!”
