Summer at The Nelson is officially in full swing ☀️✨

We’ve been blown away by the support already. Our calendar is filling fast, with bookings carrying through August, and watching this little dream grow into a place people choose to celebrate, gather, and slow down has been something special.

A quick reminder that The Nelson at Borealis Bison Barns isn’t just a stay… we also offer intimate elopement packages and small gatherings inside our restored 1935 hayloft loft space. Exposed original beams, cozy Alaska charm, overnight accommodations, and a setting built for meaningful moments instead of massive productions.

Still searching for a summer or fall elopement location? Weekend availability is becoming very limited, so now is the time to start planning.

We’re also counting down to our Borealis Bison Block Party on the 13th. We’re putting final touches on everything and can’t wait to open the doors, showcase the loft space, and celebrate this new chapter with our community.

If you’ve been curious about hosting an elopement, intimate ceremony, gathering, or simply want to tour the space, this is your chance to see it in person.

Our first guests checked out yesterday… and before we could even blink, we were turning over The Nelson for our next guests arriving at 3 PM. Then another booking right after that. 🥹

A lot of today looked like coffee cups, laundry, fresh sheets, and two people in bathrobes making beds together between stays. The behind-the-scenes isn’t glamorous, but seeing this little dream fill with guests already feels incredibly rewarding.

We’re thankful. We’re learning. And we’re feeling very blessed that Borealis Bison Barns is becoming a place people choose to slow down and stay awhile.

If you’ve been thinking about an Alaska getaway, The Nelson still has availability this season and bookings are now through Airbnb only.

Planning something bigger? The Loft also has openings for intimate events, micro weddings, showers, content sessions, and gatherings.

What started as a historic 1935 colony barn and a dream has slowly turned into something bigger than we planned. 🤍

At Borealis Bison Barns, we’re creating a place where people can slow down, celebrate, gather, and experience a little piece of Alaska.

We now offer:

• The Nelson → a private lakefront Airbnb inside our restored historic barn conversion, designed for quiet getaways, couples, travelers, and anyone needing a peaceful reset.

• The Loft → intimate elopements and micro weddings with lakefront ceremony space for couples wanting something meaningful without the pressure of a huge wedding.

• Event rentals → baby showers, birthdays, workshops, small gatherings, and celebrations.

• Photo + content rentals → a character-filled Alaska backdrop with original beams, natural light, and lake views for photographers, creatives, and brands.

This place has been built with a lot of hard work, late nights, and a vision to preserve a piece of Alaska history while creating experiences people remember.

We were supposed to be welcoming our first guests on Monday.

We had a whole weekend planned to finish the little details, add final touches, and pretend we had everything under control 😅

Instead, we got a last-minute booking THREE hours ago and our first guest is checking in… basically now.

Cue frantic scrambling between real estate showings, final walk-throughs, and putting out approximately seven unrelated fires. We somehow tracked down a TV, found a TV stand (not my dream choice, but tiny cabin stairs apparently have opinions), hauled everything upstairs, cleaned, staged, and did our absolute best to make this space feel cozy and cared for.

Needless to say, our brains are fried.

Building something from scratch is messy. Hosting people in a place you’ve poured your time, money, and heart into feels vulnerable too. But tonight our doors officially open, and that’s really exciting.

We hope our guests love this little spot as much as we do. And if nothing else… they’ll never know how close the TV installation was to becoming a full emotional event 😂

Here’s to first guests, learning as we go, and new adventures.

We’ve had quite a few bookings come through already for The Nelson and our first guests arrive next week, which is so exciting.

We’ve also had several inquiries for The Loft event space already, including weddings into 2027, which feels kind of crazy considering this has all still felt so new to us.

We’re really just grateful for everyone sharing our posts, telling people about us, booking with us, and supporting us while we get everything up and running. It means a lot.

Right now we’re finishing up some last little touches before guests arrive next week. I found really cute little travel sets for guests, so now I need everyone to tell me if they actually like them too!

Also my trash can finally came in and I stand by the fact that trash cans absolutely can be cute.

And I found the prettiest handmade Turkish rug for the bathroom at the Alaska Vintage Market yesterday, so freezing to death walking around outside was worth it after all.

We’re really excited to finally open our doors this summer and have people enjoy this space as much as we’ve enjoyed putting it together.

Now we just need Alaska to cooperate and give us some sunshine because I think we’ve all had enough of whatever this weather situation is.

We truly tried to create options that give you the freedom to make the space your own.

And I have to give a huge shoutout to Chaney & Crystal at CJC. They built my original real estate website, and I was already blown away… but this one? They somehow outdid themselves. The amount of care, time, and detail that went into bringing this vision to life is unreal. Chaney has worked around the clock to make this happen, and I couldn’t be more grateful.

It’s happening… bookings are officially LIVE for The Nelson 🤍

After a lot of long days (and very late nights), you can now book your stay through Airbnb, VRBO, and Booking.com if you’re ready for a simple two-night getaway.

Our website is ready to launch today, we’re just making a few final tweaks to ensure it’s seamless and user-friendly!

✨ The Loft will be available to book exclusively on our website, where we’ll also be offering curated packages and custom experiences designed to make your stay even more special.

We’re equal parts exhausted and excited, and we seriously can’t wait to host you.
