Trevor and Nathan didn’t want their wedding at Cache Estate to look like anyone else’s.

So the tables came in olive branch and soft greenery, the cake wore the same palette down to the last leaf, and when the sun dropped, the whole property lit up under hanging chandeliers and string light for a night that didn’t quit. Two grooms in black tie, a dance floor that never emptied, and a money dance that had the whole tent on its feet.

Weddings feel different when the couple lets the day be exactly theirs. This one was.

Rehearsal dinners aren’t supposed to outshine the wedding. This one came close.

At Mirabella Estate, gold silk draped the length of one communal table, candlelight down the middle, string lights doing the rest of the work.

Ashley and Vince’s families and closest people packed in shoulder to shoulder under those arches, no assigned seating, no formality, just good food and better company.

Then the surprise.

A cigar roller working custom blends table side, hand rolling each one while guests watched. Not a detail anyone expected the night before a wedding. Exactly the kind of unexpected touch that gets talked about years later.

Moody light, warm textures, a room that felt like it belonged to them. This is what a rehearsal dinner should feel like. A party in its own right, not a warm up act.

Ben and Taylor’s cocktail hour had one job. Look good and survive the heat. It did both.

Sage draping against the pool, string lights waiting for dusk, a live band keeping the energy up while the sun did its worst. Guests showed up in every color on the spectrum, purple, mustard, cobalt, and somehow none of it clashed against Merv Griffin Estate’s green and stone backdrop.

Cocktail hour is supposed to be a pause before the party. This one had its own heartbeat, poolside conversations, a welcome table people actually stopped to read, favors guests reached for twice.

Nobody was in a rush to sit down.

Hot in every sense of the word. The guests, the styling, the actual temperature. Ben and Taylor pulled off all three without breaking a sweat. We can’t say the same for the rest of us.

Gal and Talia didn’t throw a wedding. They threw the party everyone’s still talking about.

Custom bottled cocktails lined up with name tags before anyone even sat down. A disco ball hanging over a dance floor that never emptied. String lights and draping soft enough for dinner.

Then the DJ took over and the whole night flipped.

By midnight it was hands in the air, strangers dancing like old friends, sparklers lighting up the exit. The kind of chaos you can only pull off when every detail underneath it was locked down tight.

Cash Estate gave them the space. Gal and Talia gave it the energy. We just made sure nothing got in the way of either.

Brianna’s dad has been racing cars her whole life. So she made her entrance into her own reception in one of his.

At The Thermal Club, that wasn’t even the only car on site.

A green race car and a red Ferrari sat parked near the reception like sculpture, toy versions doubling as es**rt cards at each place setting, a detail so specific it could only belong to this family.

Ceremony at St. Francis Catholic Church, tradition and family history front and center.

Reception at The Thermal Club under willow branches strung low enough to brush past on the dance floor.

Somewhere between the two, a bride climbed out of a race car in her wedding dress like it was the most normal thing in the world.

This is what happens when a family’s actual life gets folded into the design instead of standing outside it. Brianna and Todd didn’t need a theme. They already had one.

Lauren married a man who collects bugs. So the wedding collected them too.

Butterflies worked into the centerpieces alongside jewel toned florals, magenta and orange against the desert mountains behind Stone Eagle’s fairway.

Dylan’s boutonniere carried the same detail, small enough that most guests missed it and exactly the kind of thing our couples ask for when they want a wedding that’s actually theirs.

Lauren changed into fringe for the dance floor and never sat back down. Cake was cut mid laugh, a first bite that turned into a bit. Late in the night it was arms up, dress catching light, the whole room still in it.

This is what happens when a couple’s real interests get built into the design instead of decorated around. Nobody walks into a wedding like this and mistakes it for a template.

Brittanie and Mik didn’t do a color palette. They did a mood, and the mood was bold.

Checkerboard against the palms, marigold and citrus florals on white linen, a disco ball hanging from the trees for when the sun went down.

Ingleside Estates gave them a backdrop that could have carried the day on its own, and they still showed up with more.

Bespoke wedding dresses, both built for this exact night and no other. Brittany’s beading caught every bit of the string lights. Nothing borrowed, nothing off the rack, every stitch chosen on purpose.

By the time the dance floor filled under that mirror ball, this had stopped being a wedding with great design and become a full sensory experience, the kind our couples want and rarely get in one place.

This ceremony didn’t ask permission to be dramatic. It just was.

Palm trees lined the aisle, white chairs facing a clean, unfussy backdrop. Then the bridal party walked in head to toe in black, a choice that shouldn’t have worked against all that greenery and worked anyway.

Every frame looked considered without looking staged.

Gal watched Talia come down the aisle with the exact expression you hope for and can never direct. That’s the moment. Not the florals, not the seating chart, not even the dress. Just two people finally looking at each other after months of everyone else looking at the plans.

Cash Estate gave them the setting. Gal and Talia gave it the reason to remember it.

Ben and Taylor said they wanted the wedding to feel like their favorite dinner party, just bigger. Green velvet and palm trees say otherwise. This one had range.

Six months of planning came down to a night where nobody checked a watch. Cake was cut before anyone was ready for it to be over. First dance under lights strung tight enough to look like stars. By the time the dance floor filled, Ben had lost his jacket and Taylor had lost her shoes, exactly the order you’d want it to happen in.

This is the kind of celebration that reminds you why we do this. Two people who trusted the process completely, said yes to every instinct we had, and then just showed up and lived in it.

Congratulations, Ben and Taylor. Watching you two was the whole reward.

Our otherworldly mirage in the desert, featured on Destination I Do.

Some venues take decades to build. This one took Kendrick Bangs Kellogg over twenty years. Twenty-six concrete columns rising straight out of the boulders, fanning overhead like a rib cage, no traditional walls at all. The house doesn’t sit on the land. It grows out of it.

So when we arrived to reimagine the space, every detail had to earn its place.

Paper magnolias built to echo the rock formations. The ceremony perfected just to keep the sightlines right. A reception table that serpentined around the pool, curving the way the landscape curves. Understated stoneware, earthy florals, and metallic accents catching the last light.

Favorite moment: standing on the cocktail patio as the sun dipped and the breeze picked up, feeling how completely this space belongs to Joshua Tree.
