GRAMMY®-WINNING MOTOWN LEGEND THELMA HOUSTON AND POP/DANCE DIVA THEA AUSTIN FORMERLY OF SNAP! TO HEADLINE
After this critically acclaimed debut, Houston signed with Motown Records. Always a path breaker, at Motown, she claimed the top of the pop, R&B, and dance charts with her signature rendition of "Don't Leave Me This Way." This Gold Record classic gave Houston the distinction of being the first solo female artist at Motown to win the GRAMMY Award for "Best R&B Female Vocal Performance."
In early 2020, Houston collaborated with Morrissey on "Bobby, Don't You Think They Know." Also released the same year was the dance single "Turn Your World Around" (Radikal Records) with Bimbo Jones. The song quickly rose on the Billboard Dance Charts to No. 7. As an artist who is always focused on creating, Houston teamed up once again with Jimmy Webb during the COVID-19 pandemic for the song called "Someone is Standing Outside."
Recent shows include CBS's Motown 60: A GRAMMY Celebration. Houston’s performance brought down the house. She also recently performed on the BET special DJ Cassidy's Pass the Mic. During Black History Month in February, she was honored by the 2022 City of Los Angeles African American Heritage Month Program as a Living Legend—which she truly is.
Houston is known for her charitable causes and tireless efforts in the battle against AIDS. In 2003, the City of West Hollywood proclaimed January 29 as "Thelma Houston Day." Houston has contributed her talents to numerous causes, including Divine Design for Project Angel Food, AIDS Project Los Angeles, and the Minority AIDS Project, to which she donated her $20,000 winnings from the TV show Hit Me Baby. She has been active with the NAACP and is a longtime supporter of the Human Rights Campaign (HRC).
May of 2024 finds Ms. Houston making it all the way into the Semi Finals of Fox’s “The Masked Singer” TV show.
Thea Austin, International Pop and Dance singer formerly of SNAP! fits many categories: sultry diva, powerful vocalist, producer, lyricist, stunning beauty and international performer. Yet her music defies categorization and crosses all boundaries. She has been fronting bands, among them the Pop/Dance group SNAP, and honing her vocal skills since she was in her early teens. Several years ago her want for vocal success brought her to Los Angeles, looking for a recording contract. She started out performing in bars and clubs then soon began gaining session work as a background vocalist.
After working on a various solo projects. A longtime friend Thea's vocal talent and introduced her to the SNAP organization.
Thea was soon whisked to Germany to begin work on Snap's album The Madman's Return together with the rapper Turbo B. She not only sang, but co-authored many of the cuts.
As the lead singer of Snap she took the world by storm with her first single, "Colour of Love" (Composed by Thea) soared into the Top Ten across Europe and reestablished Snap as a force to be reckoned with.
The second single the Thea composed was the iconic Pop, Dance hit called "Rhythm Is A Dancer". The song instantly took a firm grasp on the number one position on numerous charts ALL around the world.
After Michael Jackson witnessed Thea work the stage, it came as no surprise that he asked her to be his opening act for the Dangerous Tour and HBO Special, where she played to more than 70,000 fans nightly. Thea had a huge international dance hit with the song "I Can't Get Enough" under the name of SOULSEARCHER. The song had massive crossover appeal from dance clubs to radio as it slammed in at #8 on the UK National Pop Charts and topped the US Dance Charts as well.
Her follow-up single "Do It To Me Again", which Thea co-wrote, went to #1 on the UK Club Charts and was a Top 20 hit on the UK Pop Charts. It should come as no surprise that Thea continued her winning streak, this time under the name PUSAKA, when she co-wrote the massive dance hit "You're The Worse Thing for Me (I'm Addicted)" with her friends, Chris Cox and DJ Irene.

Registration for the Costume Contest begins at 6:30p.m at the Information booth on Arenas Road and will end promptly at 7:45p.m. Registered participants must be in line with their wristband at the NEW runway stage, no later that 8:00p.m.
