In contrast to how Andrew Picketts team decided to handle their fear of snakes, the coordinator I've been talking to with Community Pathway for Kids admitted to her fear of snakes but that she was going to try hard to still come say Hi, and she specifically chose volunteers with snake experience to help at my booth. This was not at my request, but out of kindness and support for our business and mission.

Never let your own fears interfere with the joy and experience of others!

Edit: They doubled down and said I could have a trunk set up but not bring my snakes because "they don't want the liability". Ya know, because my licenses and insurance doesn't cover that. 🤣 They legit asked me to leave the entire basis of my business behind. Do they also invite bounce house companies to come to their events, but don't allow the bounce house because of the liability? Make it make sense.

I applied to be a trunk at the Andrew Picket Trunk or Treat event. They asked for more information when I applied, clarifying if I had snakes present, if families would be able to interact with them. I explained how my events usually work and that this event would likely be viewing only due to the high traffic flow.

Apparently the manager thinks snakes aren't ideal to have around families....

Not that there isn't any space. Not that I don't have the right insurance, licensing, or anything like that. Simply that the manager doesn't like snakes. Even after explaining that we are family focused and showing photos of all the happy children and families with my snakes, they are no longer responding to me.

It always saddens me when fun for everyone else has to be ruined because of one person's misplaced fear. I understand not every person likes snakes or sees the point in what I'm doing. I understand not every company is going to want to collaborate with me one on one. But I don't understand how a company can be "all about the community" but then let their own personal fear get in the way of allowing the community to come together.

I doubt that the manager would have even been present and walking around the event to be bothered by us anyway. But I digress.

We are wanting to do trunk or treats but financially cannot afford to pay for any more vendor spaces. We're barely keeping light on over here. If there are any free trunk or treat options that still have space available, and you actually support what we're trying to do here, let me know! 😅

UPDATE on October's events:

Being chronically I'll while trying to get this business going has been a serious challenge. My health is how I've found myself in a position to put all my time and effort into this business. However, I don't want this business to be another thing I push myself to do, but can't because I ignore my own health. 🩺

So I'm making some adjustments, again. 😅 Isn't that a big part of starting a business, adjusting?

I'm cutting back on the vendor markets and holiday events. Trying to work 5+ hours in the outdoor Florida weather does not help my conditions in the slightest.

It took me 3 days to recover from working the Pride Festival last weekend, and I had a major flare up this morning and had to leave my benefit event early. I also hate taking a space from another vendor that could have been there all day.

Just time to make a couple changes, be a little pickier, and give more opportunities for those private indoor parties! 😏

Still come see me tonight at the mermaid house, and at the teddy bear Picnic next weekend. Otherwise, stay tuned for some different opportunities to see us in the wild. 🐍

For the month of October, I'd like to bring attention to Ashton strong. Ashton is a Brevard local kiddo who is battling cancer. No child should ever have to face this terrible disease. I had the pleasure of briefly meeting him today, and his smile and cheer brought such warmth to my heart.

In honor of his fight and to support him and his family, we would like to offer this special for the month of October.

If you book a show for the 2026 calendar year and pay your deposit in October, you'll receive $25 off your show and 10% of the show's proceeds will go to Ashton!

Lets help support a local family who is facing one of the most challenging things life can throw them.
