This was my response to another young florist who's worried about her lack of customers.

I have been in business for twenty six years in a small retirement town in Colorado. This has been the slowest year yet for me. My competition for the last eighteen years has been the grocery stores , and online order gatherers , such as Bloom Net, 1-800 Flowers, Avis Flowers, Just Flowers and all the others. However, this year, in my opinion has been the worst year yet. It is the year of fear for all United States of American citizens. We, the people as a whole have lost the state of grace and gratitude. We are operating out of fear and when we do that, we lose our happy giving spirits. Flowers are an emotional gift to our loved ones to our friends, to our Coworkers to the random people who help us daily and above all , to ourselves. When we are not in a state of grace and gratitude we are not seeing the beauty of flowers, of giving, of being grateful for those around us, of choosing to make someone's day just a bit brighter.

For flower buyers who read this, but continue to shop at our local grocery stores.Please stop in to any independently owned flower shop and see the difference.

This explains it soooo well!

One of the most common questions we get is about bouquet sizing and pricing. The simple answer is: the larger the budget, the larger the bouquet.. usually! Flower pricing really depends on the blooms being used. Some flowers, like carnations, are more budget-friendly (but even those have gone up over the years). Others are considered "premium blooms" flowers like dahlias, ranunculus, and garden roses, which can range anywhere from $5-$15 per stem, sometimes even more depending on the variety and season. Put of season peonies... *crazy* lol.

That’s why two bouquets at the same price point can look very different depending on the flowers inside them. The good news is we’re always happy to work with any budget. In many cases, a mixed seasonal bouquet gives you the most blooms, color, and texture for your dollar compared to something like a bouquet made of just one flower (I am looking at you 1 dozen roses).

Our goal is always to create something beautiful, full, and special.. while helping you get the most out of your budget. 🌸
