Come get seeds for your garden this season! This Saturday, March 1st 1-4 PM we are hosting a free seed swap community event at .wall_farm.wines Rt 9 Market in Paeonian Springs! I have cleaned out my seed stash along with another farmer friend of mine which will help supply a good start to the seed swap! Going forward, any leftovers will be put into a self service take one leave one seed library for the future. Bring one and take a couple since we have so many to go around! Veggies, flowers, herbs and ornamentals, bring it all, there is so much variety!

I have a more than a half full large brown paper grocery bag full of seed packets for this event, I’ve got my work cut out for me splitting some of these up in the next couple weeks.

🌱Be sure to label everything clearly with variety/type and split larger bags up into smaller amounts to allow people to share. Please share well stored and not too old seeds that you would share with your friends and family.

We have a lot of activities planned at our Route 9 Market this year. We will be sharing a list of classes that offer educational opportunities to make simple items that are toxic free and use locally produced raw products in an intimate setting (think soap using our lard or salves using our beef fat).

The first event we have is free and open to the public - it’s a seed swap organized and run by on March 1st from 1-4 pm.

What’s a seed swap? It’s a casual gathering of individuals interested in swapping seeds they have excess of for other seeds they desire. No you can bring veggies, flowers, herbs and/or ornamentals.

We will be open and serving at .wall_farm.wines for those that wish to indulge. Anyone can pop in to grab bottles to go that day. It’s our first day of business for 2025 before we officially reopen for the season in April.

We look forward to hosting a variety of events that bring together community and provide education for a less toxic lifestyle that use regenerative agricultural inputs.

Stay tuned for our full line-in up of classes and come see us March 1 ahead of garden season!

We are OPEN at the farm today 8-6 pm as usual!

You can find Tara at the Brambleton Market Sunday 9-1 pm.

Grab a warm drink and come say hi to Lana Rohrmeier, Owner of Wren’s Rest Gardens located in Loudoun County, Virginia!

They specialize in sustainably grown cut flowers which includes balancing the ecosystem to support their garden. Lana concentrates on spring and fall flowers; she sells seasonal flower subscriptions for pickup or delivery, or you can find their bouquets at the Long Stone Rt 9 Market and Blue Wall Cider & Wine tasting room in Paeonian Springs near Leesburg. They’ll also be hosting monthly workshops at the tasting room, offering three tiers of event florals for every budget, and bouquet bars for parties or events.

🌸 How does your farming practices help support pollinators?

My business name came from my journey figuring out organic gardening and the “aha moment” I had watching the wrens eat caterpillars off my snapdragons, that rather than fighting pests, you have to allow nature to do its thing and have your garden be part of the ecosystem. Pollinators are an important part of the process and I don’t even use organic pesticides. I save a lot of seeds and grow veggies for myself so I need the pollinators. I am careful to tuck in different plants for pollinators and beneficial insects around my property between all of the gardens to encourage them and don’t rush to clean up my garden so the solitary pollinators have a place to overwinter. If you don’t try to fit your gardening into the ecosystem you’re just fighting against nature.

🌸 How has your education in agriculture influence the way you grow flowers?

I have two bachelors degrees in agriculture, one concentrating on the business side and the other on the science side. It has allowed me to get into the technical aspects of growing cut flowers and doing deep dives into soil health and microbes even though my degrees were not in horticulture.

🌸 What’s your current favorite flower?

My favorite flower that got me into this, my gateway flower, is the Dahlia and it will always be my favorite.
