When Pantone named White as the Color of the Year, I felt the void it created. A quiet space
asking to be filled with meaning. So here is my response to the design world and to this moment
in time. I am offering a different Color of the Year, one rooted in feeling, in the cosmos, and in
the future, we can collectively call in. I call it Tender Ember.
Tender Ember is the tiny spark that begins the next creative cycle. It is the first warmth after a
long season of holding our breath. It is the gentle flame that does not arrive to burn everything
down, but to glow and grow, steadily and patiently, until it lights the way forward.
I chose this color because we are tired of extremes. We are craving softness with strength, beauty
with meaning, and hope that feels believable. Tender Ember is not loud. It does not demand
attention. It simply stays lit. It reminds us that creation does not always begin with a bang.
Sometimes it begins with a quiet, living heat that refuses to go out.
This color carries the energy of renewal without destruction, inspiration without pressure, and
power without force. It is the color of hands warming near a flame, of ideas returning slowly
after burnout, of love choosing to remain present, of the future arriving with tenderness instead
of fear.
Tender Ember is here to remind us that even the smallest spark can begin a new era of creativity,
connection, and meaning.
Welcome, Tender Ember. We are ready for what you will become.
Inspired by firelight, sunrise petals, desert clay, and the glow of living warmth.
