In case you missed it on Instagram, I have some news!! ❤️
Thank you for 11 years!! 🙏🏽. Thank you to over 160 couples! Thank you to my husband for always supporting me!
A very small group has known a secret, this past weekend was my last wedding. For the past year I’ve been transitioning to retire after 11 years of being a wedding planner.
I didn’t want to publicly share until I was 100% certain I was DONE! As my fellow industry peeps know — it’s very common to get booked 1-1.5 years in advance to plan a wedding so i had to make the call (IN or OUT) as to whether I’d be available when inquiries came in this year.
As I turned down each inquiry that came in this year I had a (oh sh*t moment “omg am I really intentionally turning away business — some of which were already a sure thing?! 😳) but as the months passed it became more and more clear that I was making the right decision for me and my family — at the right time.
I’ve been asked WHY am I closing a successful business. I don’t have a black and white answer, but in a nutshell my priorities have changed. Although I LOVE planning weddings and my couples, I’ve fallen out of love with doing them. Being a planner is a labor of love (I truly enjoyed my 14hr “work”days!) so when I felt the shift I knew it was time. Time to dedicate more time to my hubby and son. Change is good!
I have solace in knowing that I’m ending an incredible career on my terms. A career that’s molded me, a career that I’ve given countless hours of my life and and literal tears to. A career that I’ve deeply loved SO SO much.
What’s next? Haha, well I don’t know yet. 😬It was too challenging to figure that out while staying on top of my 2019 weddings and staying at home with my sweet baby boy. I’ve been working in some capacity since I was 14yo so let me tell you, it’s a nerve wracking and terrifying thought not to have a firm plan! But then I remembered how scared I was when I took that leap from my corporate job to go full time with Chic Ambiance Events... and when I took the leap from meeting clients at a coffee shop to having a full time office space...and lastly the leap from advertising to solely depending on word of mouth, referrals from past couples and venues and vendors. All of these milestones I was initially scared out of my mind — but the results were incredible.
Thank you to all of my past couples for not only trusting me with their big day - but also with their friends and families special day. Thank you to the venues that added me to their preferred planner lists, vendors, my family and my incredible husband who has supported me and believed in me all these years.
I’m incredibly excited for what’s to come in this new season of my life.
Love,
Deanna
