The things we do for our animals!
ππππππππππππ
Here on our farm we have 3 barn cats. And let me tell you they do their job!
I got these cats at the end of last year from a couple different people who had found litters and needed them to go to good homes (they were free).
Fast word to last week. Out 2 girls were pregnant and due to have their babies.
Luna our white one was big and round. Buffy our tabby showed up one day for dinner not pregnant any more.
I looked and looked for days for her babies and couldnβt find them.
On Thursday last week we got a big shed delivered that will end up being out be feed shed and hangout. Well on Friday as I was feeding one of the horse pastures, I heard the slightest faint meows. And sure enough I found Buffy laying in a planter box with her kittens crawling all over her.
At this point Luna (still pregnant) had been moved to the shed with A/C, toys, a couch, litter box and all the cat things. So it was time for Buffy and her 3 babies to join her.
Sunday Morning, Luna gave birth to her litter. She started around 10:30am and gave birth to 5 healthy babies. I waited and checked all day for the afterbirth and nothing came out. Around 7:15pm she ended up having one more π³. Still no afterbirth at this point.
Monday morning I call the vet. She didnt look to good and I was really nervous.
Northwest Florida Animal Clinic got us in right away. She never passed the afterbirth. Poor Luna ended up needing emergency surgery to remove what was still inside. Her white blood cell count was extremely low from all the bleeding after birth.
Our beloved Luna has been at the vet since Monday but we are hopeful sheβll get to come home by the weekend.
Buffy our superstar π is picking up ALL the slack. Not only is she nursing and tending to her babies but she has been tending to Lunas as well.
ANIMALS ARE AMAZING, or at least mine are π€£.
We are not a rescue but I do run my farm kind of like one. We have taken in many βfreeβ animals (dogs, cats, horses and a peacock) but that doesnβt stop us from dumping love and money into them to keep them alive and healthy.
π₯° If you are interested in a kitten they will be ready to go in 6-8 weeks.
They are barn & farm raised and Buffy and tracker (all the kittens dad) are excellent hunters!
