FOR THE LOVE OF BINGO
Judy’s Fireside in Overland, MO was where we first heard of Meat Bingo. We never got to play as it was held on a night of the month that we were unable to attend. However, we met an extremely close knit group of patrons at Fireside who welcomed us into their lives with open arms. We met the beautiful, fun loving, tell it like it is, take no s**t, love with all her heart Jennifer Porter who is such a blessing in our lives.
Jennifer is so talented and creative. You will see her handy work at some of our bingos displaying our Meat Prizes written in Neon marker on her one of kind, hand crafted sign. She spent so much of her own time making this for us and she is truly an asset to our team. Her full of life energy glows around her. You’ll know her when you see her!
Melinda would ALWAYS come down to the bar near the end of the night and help her friend clean up and stock beer, just to help her. A former bartender also by the name of Lisa who hosted Meat Bingo at Fireside chose to take her career path in another direction. John had become quite fond of Judy’s Fireside and offered to continue the tradition of Meat Bingo for Judy’s Fireside. Our very first meat bingo brought in a much larger crowd than they ever imagined, so much so that they ran out of Bingo cards just half way through the 10 rounds. Trying not to let on to the patrons what was sure to be a catastrophic embarrassment, a patron’s daughter suggested the saving grace! Party City was closing in 10 minutes and it was an 8 minute drive in perfect driving conditions, hitting not a single red light. We frantically jumped in the car and dialed the phone number for Party City, begging the manager to stay open just long enough to purchase more bingo cards, he obliged and got us back on track. That was quite a stressful, but successful evening. However, Melinda noticed that they had not one second of that evening to stop moving, sweat pouring down their faces, and exhaustion setting in. Melinda said, “You need help! You can’t keep doing all of this by yourself. That’s crazy. I’ll help you whenever you need.” We offered to pay Melinda $50 for each bingo at Fireside. Melinda refused. She simply WANTED to help. And again, a truly genuine, caring friendship was born.
Melinda is not only an amazing friend, hard worker, loving mother, but has given up so much of her free time to be a part of each and every single Bingo thereafter. Our meat bingo could NEVER exist without Melinda. She has guided us in leaps and bounds to grow J & S Meat Bingo where it is today. She is and will ALWAYS be the true backbone to our group. MELINDA BROWN, YOU MEAN EVERYTHING TO US.
