So much of life is about balance.

Photography is no exception. It is a balance between what we can control and what we cannot. I can control everything about the camera; exposure, framing, lighting and to some degree my subject.

The things that slip through my grasp of control while I’m shooting are often where the magic happens.

A wandering little sister may toddle into my frame and create the real moment of parenthood. That moment when two parents really show what it’s like to have two babies. It’s nothing too outlandish, but it tells the whole story in such a beautifully human way - and it was completely out of my control.

When people recount the most impactful moments of their life, they don’t usually tell you about the big zoomed out version . “I went on stage and got my oscar” is a dull and boring story.

Humans recount a story with tiny details that really stuck out to them at the time. A funny tone, a well-timed gust of wind, the look on someone’s face; these are the details that make a story wonderful.

The little fleeting details is what our brains cling to. Those tiny details make a story magical.

That’s what I’m always looking for in life. It’s not the big moment, it’s the little ones.

Style and the size of your guest list are independent variables when it comes to your wedding.

An Intimate wedding or elopement does not mean you can’t have impeccable style and outfit changes and fabulous taste and all the extra touches. Do you. Be extra. Go big - even with a small guest list.

So as it turns out, size DOESN’T matter 😉

There’s the perfect photo, then there’s the perfect photo - yunno what I mean?

I’m here for that ideal, print-quality image. I shoot for publications and magazine covers and billboards and allll that stuff. That sort of crisp idealistic portraiture scratches an itch in my brain.

But that candid moment? That accident on film that breaks the ‘rules’? The moment in time that just sort of happens without me doing much besides being ready? That’s what scratches an itch in my soul!

That moment is what it’s all about.
