Winter Park COVID-19 Update:
We are continuing to monitor the status of coronavirus disease (COVID-19) and are working diligently to protect our residents, guests, and employees. All Saturday Farmers’ Markets in March are cancelled. All large events in the City of Winter Park have been cancelled through the month of March, including the Winter Park Sidewalk Art Festival.

Happy Mother's Day!
Celebrating with my Mom this year was a bit of a challenge. My folks fall into high-risk categories and I have been out of the house a few days this week. To boot, rain was in the forecast, so, we moved our planned al fresco Mother's Day Brunch to Breakfast for Dinner on Saturday.
When I was a kid, "Breakfast for Dinner" meant pancakes with chocolate chip smilie faces, French toast, or waffles with a sprinkle of chocolate chips, maple-ish syrup, and confectioners sugar using a magical implement by Tupperware that dusted the powdered sugar perfectly. (I Googled it. It's the "Jifi Sift, Powdered Sugar Mill, Sheer White" And you can buy one on eBay right now. Mom would cringe knowing all of the listings start with "Vintage". Doh! )
The point was, breakfast for dinner included things we didn't normally have for breakfast. We were scrambled eggs or an eggs-on-a-island/toad-in-the-hole family. Pancakes and waffles were for brunches out or holidays where Grandma was in the kitchen.
With the change in plans, and after a busy Saturday, I headed to The Fresh Market to pick up a Mother's Day brunch bundle which included their deli-sliced bacon, quiche, blueberry muffins, a beautiful fruit salad & flowers. If you can still get it, go get it. I set up a table outside and we enjoyed a socially distanced, garden party meal laughing over a pretty decadent "breakfast for dinner", because wine. 😉
Earlier in the week I had dropped off a beautiful bouquet from Kelly Shannon Floral, a fresh flower boutique. My mom loves flowers and passed that love of flowers to me. My yard is filled with blooming everything. Taking those few minutes to swing by with flowers brightened her day immeasurably. Because flowers. And, lately taking a few extra minutes to text, call, zoom or wave from afar is a big deal.
While I don't have human kids, but I did treat myself! () To this blueberry & strawberry cobbler at P is for Pie Bake Shop in the Audubon Park Garden District and shopped their display for Mannix Vanilla goodies. I've enjoyed this local brand for years, first discovering them at a farmer's market. I picked up (new to me!) Mannix Orange Vanilla, the 2x strength organic vanilla extract with organic orange extract added and the tube of ground Mannix Vanilla to restock my dwindling supply. If I had a Tupperware Brands Corporation Jifi Sift, you can bet I'd mix in some ground Mannix vanilla to my powdered sugar. 💜
