My professional work influences the way I teach everyday. I’ve been fortunate enough to have learned from so many teachers, choreographers, and artists and my experiences have molded the way I teach. For example, when in rehearsals and having to create in such a short amount of time, it can sometimes create an overwhelming feeling in the air. I’ve learned that being patient and caring for your dancers goes a long way.

I want every student to leave with more confidence than they came in with. Whether it’s improving technique, discovering a new level of self-expression, or simply enjoying the process, I want them to feel inspired to keep growing. I believe dance should challenge you, inspire you, and help you grow, not just as a dancer, but as a person. The lessons you learn in the studio carry into everyday life. My goal is to create an environment where people feel motivated to work hard, take risks, and enjoy the process. Progress comes from consistency and commitment.

My professional work has taught me that what makes someone magnetic isn’t always in the steps, it’s often something within them you have to unlock. Through my work, I’ve learned to really see the individual in front of me. For example, if a dancer is doing everything “right” but something still isn’t connecting, I’ll shift my approach to find what they need whether that’s confidence, intention, or permission to trust their own instincts. That’s my favorite part of coaching: finding the thing that unleashes the artist and watching them transform.

Dancers can expect to be challenged. I’m going to push you outside of your comfort zone, ask you to demand more from yourself, and help you find a new level of confidence. The steps and details matter, but I care just as much about how you execute and perform them. I look for dancers who are plugged in, ready to work, willing to take risks, and unafraid for to show me who they are. I’m always looking for that star quality and how I can amplify it.

I spent a long time trying to find validation by booking one specific type of job, by impressing or getting approval from one small lane in the industry-trying to be a dancer that wasn’t authentic to me.  When I finally took a step back + opened myself up by embracing my truths + my unique voice as an artist, there were SO many other doors waiting for me.  I was able to step into rooms, jobs, and positions where I was able to flourish, alongside people I admire deeply.  

I hold this notion in my heart every single time I step into the studio or onto the stage to teach young dancers.  How can I best help them discover their voice as an artist and a human?  It won’t be the same for any two dancers, and that’s the challenge that inspires me as an educator.  There’s a lane for everyone.  How do I help bring that to light through the training and tools I’m providing for them?  I consistently guide them back to trusting their own artistry/voice. Yes, I want them to master my choreography, my style, and have solid foundations in every style. BUT I will always celebrate and encourage each dancers voice - if that is similar to mine or not-Authenticity shinessssssss!

I’m constantly working in professional environments, so I try to teach beyond just choreography. I want dancers to understand why something works. It’s not magic - there’s a science to it. I give dancers the same kinds of notes I would give an artist or professional dancer on set - not just where the movement goes, but what the camera sees, where the focus is, and what makes a moment feel believable. Last but not least, I want dancers to understand the tools behind a strong performance so they can apply them beyond my choreography.

I look for dancers who are curious, adaptable and willing to commit fully rather than worrying about getting everything “right.” I want them to leave with a stronger understanding of performance and musicality. My classes present a freedom to give dancers time and patience with choreography. Good things take time.

My professional work is teaching and choreographing young dancers, so the two are completely intertwined. I spend an enormous amount of time in the studio watching dancers process information,
take risks, struggle, grow, and eventually find ownership of something. That has shaped the way I
choreograph. I don’t want to simply put movement onto a dancer - I want to understand the person
doing it and find the version of the work that only they could perform.

Dancers can expect to begin class with a definitive lesson in mind and spend the class unpacking and discovering that lesson through movement. I focus on textures, musicality, and pairing athleticism with pedestrian, human choices. I want students to initiate movement from their emotional connection to the music, lyrics, and sound.

I want them to be detail-oriented and to challenge their mental capacity by picking up movement quickly
and accurately. But ultimately, I look for dancers who are curious, generous, and willing to commit - even
before they’re completely sure of themselves. I want them to make choices. Take up space. Find moments that belong to them. My hope is that they leave class feeling more connected to themselves as performers, rather than feeling like they’ve successfully imitated me.
