CAN YOU BELIEVE IT?! Omaha has a caterer who treats almost none of an event as trash. Did you all know this about Catering Creations??
They kept nearly 30 tons out of the landfill last year. Thirty. Tons. That's about 89% of everything their events produced, and a true zero-waste operation crosses 90%.
The part we're watching with bated breath ... Their 2026 numbers are sitting right under that 90% line with the holiday season around the corner.
We think they're gonna pull it off!
Here's how it works at their events:
Food scraps and leftovers go to our composting facility. Surplus prepared food goes to Saving Grace to feed people who need it. Cardboard, glass, plastic, and metal get recycled at First Star. Whatever's left for the trash can is barely a handful.
Catering Creations, WE SEE YOU. Hillside gave you its Resilience Award back in 2023 for this exact work, and you haven't let up since.
