October is for falling in love with the Swingout! We love this iconic Lindy Hop figure! We will start from the basics and work into technique. Great for all levels, this class will help you build a solid foundation for dancing at all tempos.

The Evergreen Ballroom NOT The Olympia Ballroom 👉 Historically known locally as “The Green” was theeee venue for generations in Thurston County. Built in 1931 with a maple dance floor it was the spot to spend Saturday nights with tickets in the 1950's for $2.

Legends B.B. King, Tina Turner, Marvin Gaye, Chuck Berry, Jerry Lee Lewis (slide 3), James Brown and even Hank Williams all graced the stage. James Brown reportedly performed in front of an estimated 800 people there in 1956.

We often see comments on our posts saying, didn't the ballroom close or burn down or go away? Different space! ✨

Olympia, WA & The Olympia Ballroom were lucky to have the “King of Strings” Carvin Jones grace our stage multiple times over the years on his tours. Carvin passed away Sunday at his home in Phoenix after a hard fought battle with cancer. His last show at the Olympia Ballroom last July is of unique perspective now as it was one of the last live performances of his life before doctors put him on bedrest. One thing that stood out to me is even in his wheelchair two months ago he looked at me and said “hey Ryan, you doing good?” — now looking back especially to know that someone going through so much was more concerned about staff, fans, venue operators and also remembering my name from the past (not all artists do). He and his production team were an interesting bunch that were always nice to work with in the end. Carvin Jones stage presence and his ability to connect and care for folks in the moment was unmatched. Onward and upward Carvin ✨

Announcement

It is with immeasurable sadness that we share that Corvin Keith Anthony Jones, known to his family and friends around the world as Carvin Jones, the “King of Strings,” passed away in the early morning of September 20, 2026.

Born in Lufkin, Texas, and long based in Phoenix, Carvin devoted his life to music. His sound was rooted in East Texas, where blues, gospel, R&B, and rock and roll intersected. He first discovered the blues through the B.B. King records his grandfather played at home and began playing at seven, when his grandmother bought him his first guitar.

Carvin loved being onstage because he loved being with people. He would leave the stage to play in the crowd, turning every show into something shared. That same generosity shaped his life offstage. Basketball was Carvin’s other great love, and he sponsored and coached youth teams. During the pandemic, he created Carvin Cares, using his own money to deliver groceries to elderly residents throughout Phoenix.

Our family is deeply grateful to everyone who supported Carvin during these last months. Your generosity meant so much to him and to us. We hope you will join us in Phoenix to celebrate his life. Details will be shared publicly once plans are confirmed.

Monday Night Swing Dance with Sound Sound Stomp ✨ Now offering an hour long class from 6:30-7:30 with more Lindy Hop content. We ask that you know a swing out to join this class.

We will offer a drop in & practica time after the series class. This will include beginning material and time to ask questions and practice.

This month our series class will focus on Spicy New Moves. Classes start September 14th 👏👏
