Venue Attendant – Part-Time
Capitol City Barn Wedding & Event Center | Olympia, WA
Pay: $20+ per hour, depending on experience
Capitol City Barn is looking for a dependable, organized, and friendly Venue Attendant to join our team! This is a part-time, event-based position for someone who enjoys working with people, is comfortable taking initiative, and doesn’t mind jumping in wherever needed to keep an event running smoothly.
💍 What You’ll Do
As a Venue Attendant, you’ll help make sure our venue is prepared, maintained, and operating smoothly throughout weddings and events. Responsibilities may include:
-Opening and closing the venue
-Setting up and moving tables and chairs
-Assisting vendors with venue-related questions and needs
-Answering questions and assisting guests
-Monitoring events for adherence to venue policies and rules
-Maintaining restrooms throughout events
-Monitoring, removing, and replacing garbage as needed
-Overseeing cleanup and ensuring the venue is left in proper condition
-Helping address issues that arise during an event
-Completing other venue-related tasks as needed
💍 What a Typical Shift Looks Like
Event days can be busy at certain points, but there is also often significant downtime throughout a shift once the venue is set and the event is underway.
During downtime, Venue Attendants are welcome to read, watch TV, study, or work on other personal work as long as they remain on-site, available to assist when needed, and continue to periodically monitor the venue and event.
This can be a great position for someone looking for flexible, part-time weekend work where not every hour of a shift is continuously busy.
💍 Physical Requirements
This is a hands-on position. Applicants should be comfortable being on their feet for extended periods when needed and performing physical tasks throughout a shift, including lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling tables, chairs, garbage, supplies, and other event-related items.

We’re looking for someone who is:

- Organized and attentive to detail
- Comfortable communicating with couples, guests, and vendors
- Able to work independently and take initiative
- Comfortable enforcing venue rules professionally when necessary
- Able to problem-solve and remain composed in a busy event environment
- Flexible with varying schedules and longer event-day shifts
- Primarily available on weekends
Previous wedding or event industry experience is preferred, although candidates with strong hospitality or customer service experience are encouraged to apply.
💍 Schedule
This is a part-time, event-based position and does not have a guaranteed or set number of hours each week.
Hours fluctuate throughout the year depending on our wedding and event schedule. Most shifts are on weekends, although occasional weekday availability may be required.
Shifts can range from approximately 4 to 16 hours, depending on the event and assigned responsibilities.
💍 Compensation
$20+ per hour, depending on experience.
