Here is a little bit about how I got started and what I currently do! I have loved art of all forms since I was old enough to use scissors... self taught with the try try again attitude paired with the beloved " Cant' never tried" as my mom always says! My business all started when a friend wanted unique one of a kind painted wine glasses for her wedding and we could not find them anywhere.... tha
t is how Handmade-by Shelby started in 2005! To get my name out there I did craft shows for a few years. I had a small studio in my home where I painted 1000's of glasses a year until 2014 I opened an Art studio in Olean New York that I kept open until 2023. I held weekly painting classes in my studio teaching others to paint as well as had a small gift shop area to display my art! I held weekly art classes for both kids & adults. I use several different mediums and offer unique classes. After I became ill with breast cancer I made the decision to close my studio & continue special orders at home and continue to do travel art parties. Currently, I still offer travel to you public & private events. I have public classes at various businesses around the area. Tickets and info are available on my website www.paintingwithshelby.com. I am still a painter and paint on various mediums and concentrate mostly on Useable Art however, I still do special custom orders. Art parties are a great way to get friends & family together for some unique fun. I bring ALL of the supplies Or you can sign up for a scheduled public event and just show up for some unique fun while learning!! Prices and minimums vary. I offer monthly deals, discounts for hostesses and special low ticket cost days. In 2024, I decided to do Artisan markets again and I love it! It has been a great way to showcase my art again and provide people with the opportunity to see and purchase my artwork in person.
