Home from the 2026 Cameron Elks BBQ Cook Off where I competed in the double backyard and one meat rib. After a disappointing showing in the one meat rib, I tried to reset for the double backyard. In the first backyard I got a surprise first place chicken! Added a 7th on ribs and finished 4th overall. In the second backyard a 6th place chicken (wild child!) and an 8th place rib gave me 6th overall.

Congrats to everyone who heard their name called today.

Special shout out to Summa Dat Que for pep talks, last minute advice, and running boxes.

Tried my hand at making some deli style roast beef at home. This turned out fantastic and I can't wait to eat some good roast beef sammies as soon as I pick up a bread worthy of this beef! Yes, it was just a small amount as it was my first time doing it, but now that I have the process down I'll use a bigger roast next time.

Got some rib practice in today while doing some lawn work. Not too shabby! Changed some seasoning up and tried out Richard Richard Fergola's Apple Chipotle sauce. No dunk, just painted the sauce on today. Going to be eating some terrific ribs for lunch for a few days!

When your youngest asks for pulled pork, you make pulled pork! Did this beauty on my Smokin Brothers, Inc. Premier Plus 30 with some of Kelly Wertz's Pork Magic pork injection and Cowboy Mesquite mixed with some Meat Church BBQ Holy Voodoo. It's a terrific combination and this bad boy didn't last long! Pic is from right before the wrap. Sorry, no pics of the finished product, everyone was too excited to eat to wait for social media pics!
