I saw a question the other day asking if it would be weird to only have cupcakes at a wedding reception.

Short answer: Not weird at all!

Long answer: It's your day. If you want cupcakes, then cupcakes it is. Don't like cake and would rather have cookies, pie, donuts, ice cream, or your favorite dessert? Go for it!

One of my favorite things about weddings is seeing couples make choices that actually reflect who they are instead of doing something simply because it's traditional. At the end of the day, your guests will remember celebrating with you far more than they'll remember whether you served a tiered cake.

And for the record, I've never heard anyone complain about extra dessert. 😄

This is one of my favorite moments of the reception. Everyone is seated, glasses are raised, and the room is buzzing with energy. When the timeline flows and the details are handled, couples get to be fully present for moments like this. That is always the goal.

Whenever I look at this photo I imagine them walking straight into their happily ever after. It has been a year since this moment and I hope they have spent that time building a life full of love laughter and all the little moments that make marriage so meaningful.
