"We have been extremely fortunate so far in that we have been near the eye of the storm with the outer bands of heavy rain circling around us. That has helped keep the rain amounts down to this point. Heavy rain and flash flooding is still expected this afternoon, but should be mostly past us by 7:00 pm tonight. We are cautiously optimistic that rain totals will not be quite as much as was earlier predicted. So far, the heaviest rains have occurred to our West, and should miss us a little to the North. River flooding will still be a concern through this weekend, and sand bags are still available at the District 1 County Barn."

"Well Oktaha, I have to say that I'm extremely disappointed that the state legislature has decided to balance the state budget at the expense of counties this week. We're going to keep fighting to improve the roads and bridges in Muskogee County despite having the COUNTY IMPROVEMENT OF ROADS AND BRIDGES FUND cut in half. To add insult to injury, our monthly MAINTENANCE AND OPERATIONS funding has been capped at 2014 levels so that more county road funds can be siphoned off to fill state budget shortfalls. Don't you worry though. Like we always do, we will find ways to do more with less, and continue to make improvements in Muskogee County."
Ken Doke, District 1
County Commissioner
