Opening the former Oil Springs School up as a venue and studio rentals in 1999, The Oil Springs Cultural Arts + Recreation Center (OSCAR) was a place like no other in our area. The retired school building has been managed by a local nonprofit known as the Route 23 Cultural Heritage Network for the past 20+ years

. This organization, along with efforts of determined community members, has been able to provide our community with an affordable place for growing small businesses in our area and offered citizens a unique experience. Due to frequent flooding of the area, the volunteer-based organization could not afford to continue maintaining the building and had to close their doors in November of 2023. Reminder that our Liquidation Sale is happening tomorrow, Saturday, November 11, 2023 from 9-3pm inside the Oil Springs Cultural Arts + Recreation Center. We are pulling things out of closets and studio renters will have their doors open to sell their items as well. Here is an idea of what will be available for purchase. Please come prepared to load and take it tomorrow. You won’t find these deals ANYWHERE else! There are only a couple of volunteers on-site to help, so please bring help to load.

• Dishes, utensils, chargers, glasses
• Large lanterns
• craft supplies
• Kilns
• Ceramic Molds
• Triangle wedding arch
• 15+ keyless entry door locks (keypads)
• & so much more!!!

Everything must go and every dime goes to the Route 23 Cultural Heritage Network, who is a local nonprofit whose mission to help preserve, promote, develop our cultural heritage in our area and has been doing so for over 20+ years.

Also remember that the Oil Springs Community Church that’s located in front of the OSCAR is having a their annual Christmas Bazaar tomorrow and they’re offering handmade crafts and delicious chili! Please stop by and support their fundraiser too!

We are saddened to announce that after 20+ years of preserving the former Oil Springs School by housing local artisans, venue rentals, and events, our non-profit, the Route 23 Cultural Heritage Network, has decided to close this chapter in our organization and begin the next.

The Oil Springs Cultural Arts + Recreation Center will be having a liquidation sale on November 11, 2023, from 9-3pm where we will be selling tables, chairs, linens, catering supplies, décor, and other miscellaneous things that we have collected and purchased over the years. All proceeds will go back to our organization that has helped serve our local community since the early 2000’s. We appreciate the opportunity we have received to serve our community in this capacity and are looking forward to our next adventure.

Beginning December 1, 2023, all venue rentals will be the responsibility of the owners, Paula & Kelly Conley and they are happy to try and accommodate your request. Admission $10 per person,12 and younger free.
Grab bags for the first 100 entrants.

Proceeds will as always be given to local non-profit organizations serving the citizens of Johnson County.

All Oil Springs High School Graduates are welcome to join the reunion that is scheduled on August 19, 2023 here at the OSCAR Center in the former cafeteria.

Registration is from 10am - 11am and lunch will be ready at noon. Special program immediately after lunch along with more time to socialize. There is no charge to attend this reunion, but all donations are welcomed and appreciated!
