We rarely close the Prairie Pedlar for any reason, but next week is one of those times. The Ridge Raptors Softball and Baseball teams are both going to the State Tournament! Our granddaughter, Nora, is the pitcher for the softball ladies and we can't miss her games! It is a double-elimination tournament this year, so they will play Monday and Tuesday for sure. The garden is always open for browsing and if you are passing through Sac County and had a stop at the Prairie Pedlar on your bucket list, you are welcome to be here to wander through the gardens. However, the retail side of the business will be closed. No sales on Monday or Tuesday (possibly Wednesday and Thursday also!) Go Raptors!

Who doesn't like Cherry Pie? While most people expect cherries to grow on trees, there is also a cherry bush! The new Proven Winner variety is named Easy As Pie and it is a compact, self-pollinating shrub known for showy white spring blossoms, prolific crops of tart cherries in the summer. and vivid yellow and orange fall foliage. Imagine cherries you can reach without a ladder! Matured size is 3 to 4.5 feet tall and wide. It is hardy in USDA zones 3–8. No special pruning or chemical sprays required and it doesn't need a pollinator. If you want to try something new in your shrub border, stop by the garden and give this one a try!
