"I saw this beautiful cardinal in my yard and snapped a photo of him. It spurred my curiosity to look into the meaning of seeing a cardinal. I knew the story about a cardinal representing a visit from a loved one, but I wondered if there was more to it.
As I reflected on it, I couldn’t help but see God’s hand in this small moment. Nature often speaks to us in ways we may not always recognize. Cardinals are vibrant, full of life, and they stand out even in the midst of winter's cold. In the same way, we are reminded that Jesus is with us, even in the most challenging seasons of our lives. His presence, like that cardinal’s bright red feathers, cuts through the noise and brings a message of hope and steadfastness.
For me, seeing this cardinal was a reminder that God’s creation continually points us back to Him. Just as He cares for the birds of the air (Matthew 6:26), He cares for us—deeply and intimately. Nature is one of His gifts to draw us closer to Him, to reflect on His goodness, and to remind us that we are never alone.
Next time you see a cardinal or any part of God’s creation that catches your eye, take a moment to pause and reflect. Let it remind you to draw nearer to Jesus, to rest in His care, and to marvel at the beauty He’s placed around us."
