Back in San Francisco for another FMLY link-up. On Friday, October 2, we’re taking over The Felix for a night connecting sounds, people and scenes from across the Bay and beyond. 🔊🌍✨
AndreasOne and One Lovell are back on deck, joined this time by our good friend Juan G — co-founder and principal DJ of Afrobeats Oakland, one of the crews that’s helped build a home for contemporary African music and culture in the Bay Area.
Juan G has been putting in work in the Bay for more than 15 years as a DJ, music curator, photojournalist and event producer. Alongside co-founder Asaba Kugonza, he launched Afrobeats Oakland in 2019, building events including Afrobeats at the Lake and AFRO RAVE, while pushing Afrobeats, Amapiano and a wider spectrum of African dance music into new spaces. His work has also extended beyond the booth, including African music programming at Pandora and African Diaspora marketing at EMPIRE.
Expect a night moving through Amapiano, Afrobeats, Afro House, Dancehall and Global Dance Music — three selectors bringing their own lanes together on one floor.
