Right now, your day might just be a date on a calendar and a shared Pinterest board… but in a few short years, it will be a blur of laughter, champagne toasts, and the weight of your partner’s hand in yours as you say “we do.”

My job is to make sure you never have to rely on memory alone.

I’m now booking 2027 weddings for couples in Mystic, Connecticut and throughout New England who want more than just “pretty pictures". You want a calm, reassuring presence, natural guidance in front of the camera, and photographs that feel like your day, not a styled photoshoot.

Think:
• Soft, true-to-life colors that won’t feel dated in 10, 20, 40 years
• Gentle, natural posing so you actually enjoy being photographed
• Quiet, in-between moments you didn’t even realize were happening

“How do we actually choose the right wedding photographer?”

If you’ve found yourself asking this, you’re not alone.

With so many beautiful Instagram feeds and websites, it can be hard to know who’s truly the right fit for you. Not just for pretty photos, but for your whole wedding day experience.

Here are a few things I always encourage couples to look for:

1. Style you’ll love in 30 years.
Do the photos feel true-to-life, or heavily filtered and trendy? Look for consistent color, flattering light, and natural skin tones across all kinds of lighting (ceremony, reception, indoors, outdoors.) Your photos should feel like your day, not like a random Pinterest board.

2. A calm, grounding presence.
Your photographer is with you more than almost anyone else on your wedding day. Do you feel relaxed talking with them? Listened to? Supported? You deserve someone who brings a peaceful, steady energy when nerves (and timelines!) start to swirl.

3. Posing that still feels like you.
Pay attention to how couples look in their images. Do they seem stiff or over-posed, or comfortably themselves? Natural direction should help you look your best without turning you into someone you don’t recognize.

4. Real weddings, not just styled shoots.
Ask to see at least one full wedding gallery. This shows how they handle dim churches, wild dance floors, and all the in-between, unscripted moments. Not just the perfectly curated highlights.

5. Someone who values your memories as much as you do.
Are they asking about what matters most to you? Do they talk about albums and prints, or only digital files? Printed heirlooms are what turn your images into a tangible part of your family story.

If you’re newly engaged and feeling overwhelmed, you’re not “behind.” Take a breath, trust your instincts, and remember: the right photographer will feel like a calming, joyful addition to your day, not another item on your to-do list.

I care this much because I know how fast time goes, and how hard life can be. One season you’re planning a wedding and dreaming about the future, and in what feels like a blink, those same people are older, kids are at your feet, loved ones have moved away or passed on, and the details of this exact moment start to blur around the edges.

In a world that can feel so heavy, I believe your love, your people, and your joy are worth fighting to remember. There’s so much bad in the headlines, in our feeds, in the quiet parts of life that no one talks about. But there is also so much good if you’re looking for it, the way your partner’s shoulders finally relax when they see you at the end of the aisle, your dad’s proud smile, your best friend’s uncontrollable laugh during toasts, your grandparents swaying slowly during the last song of the night.

These are not just “pretty pictures” to me. They’re proof that even in a complicated, messy world, there was a day when you chose each other, surrounded by the people who love you most. They’re tangible reminders that you have known deep joy and connection. That your story is worth being told and retold. That love showed up here, in this place, with these people.

So I’m here to notice the good and document it with intention. From the big, once-in-a-lifetime moments to the quiet in-between ones you might not even realize are happening. And I want those memories to live somewhere more permanent than a phone screen: in an album on your coffee table, in frames on your walls, in heirlooms your future kids and grandkids can hold.

When you look back on your wedding photos years from now, I don’t want you to just see what happened. I want you to feel it all over again.

The way your hands shook just a little as you buttoned your dress.

The deep breath before you walked down the aisle.
The way your partner’s shoulders instantly relaxed the moment they saw you.

That’s the heart of how I photograph a wedding day: emotional storytelling over stiff perfection. Yes, we’ll absolutely capture the classic portraits for your frames and thank-you cards, but the in-between moments? That’s where your real story lives.

It’s in your mom’s teary smile as she fixes your veil.
Your best friend’s laugh that’s a little too loud during speeches.

Your grandparents holding hands during your first dance, remembering their own.

Throughout the day, I gently guide you into natural, comfortable poses so you never feel awkward in front of the camera, then step back and let you truly *be* in the moment. My goal is to create a calming, reassuring space where you can fully sink into the joy of it all, knowing every meaningful glance and happy tear is being preserved.

And this storytelling doesn’t end when the last song plays. It continues in the way your images are curated into an album, how they’re arranged in a gallery wall, how your future kids will flip through and ask, “What were you laughing at here?”
