I enjoyed studying with Sheila Waters about 13 years ago in a week-long calligraphy intensive at her PA calligraphy studio. She was an outstanding calligrapher and educator. I'm looking forward to this presentation about her life's work by her son Julian Waters, also an esteemed calligrapher, on March 19th hosted by the Washington Calligraphers Guild.

Julian Waters, a WCG Founding Member, is giving two presentations on WCG at 50, Heritage & Legacy. The first, on March 19, is titled The British Connection. No charge for WCG members, $10 for non-members.

Many calligraphy students ask me how they can improve their calligraphy skills. I say go back to basics. Practicing with guidelines is a game changer! It promotes proportional and balanced letter forms and helps maintain letter slant consistency.
I created a copperplate calligraphy guideline sheet for my students and have it available for calligraphers to download, print, and letter on for free.
