Every summer there seems to be a spark.

I don’t know what it is about sun laced days but there is extra magic in the air from June until August. Maybe it is the twinkle of extra daylight or the promise of free time to fill my creative reserves but something, without fail, shifts for me in the summer.

I feel the next chapter of Three Roots forming and I am excited to watch the journey unfold. Our 2025 season has been incredible and has encapsulated everything I knew Three Roots could be. Collaborative, emotive, service driven and rooted in our heartfelt desire to share and celebrate love in the details both small in large. Yet, I know there is more on the horizon.

The weddings for 2026 are larger, more expressive, and creatively free in a way we’ve yet to experience and the anticipation is real. Maybe it is a testament to the trust we’ve built with clients that we can take forming ideas and translate them into the concrete, or a greater acceptance of wedding day spirit that has lead to this transformation…I don’t quite know and I also don’t mind.

We’ve been restored in the past few weeks and what a joy to have creative energy sources being replenished. Oh happy summer time bliss with its perennial promise of abundance, joy and growth.

I like to think teenage Shannon knew more than she let on and I truly believe the Three Roots studio is proof of that fact.

One year ago this month I began to tour and discern opening independent studio space and what an incredible journey this year has been. In 12 months we went from working out of a 200 sqft micro/studio in my home to managing a 1,100 sqft. studio in the heart of Norwalk. Our weddings have grown in size, our client base has expanded and the love and joy I have for creating for all of you has continued to multiply.

I’ve been fortunate to have the worlds best teachers who saw more than I could for my own future as I stumbled through school and what a gift it is now that I get to bring my fully formed talents to all of them!

I’m a long way away from the snarky 15 year old who built dresses out of canvas and chicken wire…although I am still snarky and still predominantly sculpt with chicken wire. Oh well, I guess some habits are hard to change!

These sweet snapshots in my studio tell more stories than you know. Surrounded by relics of my past in the form of favorite gifted books and thank you letters from past guides I will always be thankful to all of you for allowing my studio to grow.

Three cheers for teenage ambition and the dreams we allow ourselves to hold. You never know where they may take you!

Sweet Summertime Wedding Days!

I am always amazed at the bounty of flowers available to us in Connecticut and I think no day better demonstrates this local abundance quite like Irena & Tyler’s July 2023 day.

A bountiful array of plump garden roses, vibrant rudbeckia, sparkling sapinora, bushy blueberry foliage and oh so much more came together to create a lush array of floral compositions.

I see no reason to work outside of the season because when July blooms from local farms look this good why would I dare extended out of time and bounds to gather imported flowers? To work seasonally is to work intentionally. To work intentionally is to work within the creative conduit of love.

I will always hold this wedding day near to my heart as the team rallied in an incredible fashion to bring this day to life…but that is a story for another time!

Until then, please enjoy this selection of photos from this incredible 2023 day.

Can I be totally honest with you?

I do have a favorite composition to design, and in a shock to no one it is bouquets.

Hand held jewels intended just for you, a bouquet is the entire universe held within your hand. The merging of environmental magic with artistic sensitivity how could you be anything but overwhelmed with joy when looking at a bouquet?

Years of genetic growth and evolution crawls from pole spore to stem and it converges with hours of artistic study and sculptural composition in order to come to life in seemingly effortless fashion. Amazement is deep within the swirls of these blossoms and I’ll always have special love for these floral/universal accessories.

This particular bouquet holds special peace for me as it was the genesis for abundant intentional spiritual, internal, and artistic growth over the past year. Learning to abandon my creative anxieties and needs to something greater than me it holds all of my future hopes and expectations within its humble ruffles.

Oh…to be a flower in a crannied wall

We are rounding the corner on an important milestone in my life. Since 2023 I began to count years from June to June and it all began with a harrowing one in 2023.

Last June I took my creative energy and poured all that I could into a special styled shoot inspired by Transcendentalism and a love for all this sustainable floristry. The resulting series of vignettes were freeing, expressive, and positively pink to fully capture the truest intentions of my artist heart. During that time I also re-worked our branding and was graced with an incredible series of watercolors which spoke new life into the vision I have for the studio.

This June, this past year, this season has been nothing short of spectacular and I am forever in awe of our incredible couples and the floral magic we are fortunate enough to create for all of you. Each wedding and event this season has been adorned with abundant love and the offertory heart we bring to all of you cannot be adequately named and is central to the spirit we bring to all of you.

As Junes winds down it felt appropriate to share just a bit of the gratitude that still glows in my heart for all of you.

I’m not sure what this June to June sprint will hold however I am hopeful it will be filled with more spectacular wedding, events, and art making experiences that bring you all joy and love. We are blessed in so many ways to have this journey with all of you, and I cannot believe the incredible fortune I have been gifted by being able to work with all of you.

My joirney with sustainable wedding floristry has been one of the greatest adventures of my life and I am amazed every day by all that it affords me. Meeting incredible people, working with kind souls, endless adventures that would rival the best novel, all of it is a gift!

Thank you for continuing to make Three Roots the incredible studio that it is, sending love!

A Happy Bright & Pink Glowing Summer Solstice to All of You!

We are settling into abundant summertime joy today as we celebrate Hailey and Bill at what an incredible day of collaboration, love, and celebration for our incredible couple.

Many more thoughts and beautiful flowers to come but for now a bit of a haphazard artist smattering of images to share what we got up to today!

We’re headed into a bit of a break for the next few weeks and I’m excited to dig into 2026 meetings (send us your inquiries we’d love to flower for you!)

Oh happy day!

It is Dad’s Day Y’all and Today I’m Celebrating all that a Good Dad Does!

I know it is a complicated day for so many of us but I’m convinced my sister and I hit the jackpot with our dad so he deserves a bit of a shout out!

Since opening Three Roots in 2021 Brian has been at 90% of the weddings we produce. Managing logistics, designing tablescapes, perfecting candles and most of all helping to keep the other dads calm Brian truly helps bring it all together every single time. Charley and I joke that we couldn’t do it without it but honestly it is so freaking true.

A dreamer, a planner, a super cheerleader I consider myself supremely fortunate to have a Dad who supports all of my zany art-laden ideas…even when that means drawing on walls with crayons and markers.

But wait! There is more! My incredible father in law, grandfathers, and spiritual fathers have all helped pave the path forward for me and how fortunate am I to have the super human dads that I do? There are simply not enough words in the universe to express all of the wonderful things these fathers have provided me with. From words of wisdom to helping me learn what it means to shoot for the stars, abundant patience as I have grown up and endless support through all of my (mis)adventures how could I ever adequately express the gratitude I have?!

There is one dad I am missing extra today and that is my Little Pop. Growing up Little Pop would ALWAYS check to make sure I was following my dreams because he knew that was the secret to an incredible life. While he never got to see Three Roots come to life, I know every time I see a perfect yellow rose it is him coming to say hello.

Hugs to all of you and all of your dads today, a good dad is worth their weight in gold. Whatever today means for you I am wishing you and yours a Happy Dad’s Day, I hope it is kind to you 💗

Ethereal, glowing, expressive and true what other words could I use to describe this incredible October 2024 day.

Working with Una & Nikki was a dream and creating an assortment of soft fall toned compositions brought incredible life into our studio this past fall.

A very light October breeze rustled the leaves and the team sat in the sun building arches and urns to envelope the newlyweds in floral bliss.

As always the floral designs featured 100% American grown flowers from our favorite farms. Dahlias from and hydrangeas from my mother in laws garden, Japanese anemone, sea oats, amaranthus and more from the and our favorite California garden roses from

Working with the seasons has always allowed the team and I an opportunity to craft wedding flower designs that are expressive, immersive, and deeply tied to the environments where we work. Utilizing seasonal colors, foliages and flowers allows us room to breathe creatively and organically.

As always there will be more thoughts to come but for now a big virtual hug to our incredible October brides 💗✨🧡🌸

Quick Snapshot at What We’re Up to Today!

An incredibly darling wedding in Ridgefield, CT for M & T. There is always something extra special crafting a wedding for a hometown couple.

This *incredible* garden display is going onto the St. Mary’s high altar, with an adorable posey for the Virgin Mary to match.

Next in the line up is an assortment of blue and cream centerpieces featuring 100% American grown blooms.

Thank you to our farm partners for bringing the sustainable blooms and thank you to the team for brining this wedding to life.

In the fields, or the garden…honestly, just deliriously happy to be amongst the flowers

One of my favorite parts of each flower season is walking the grounds with growers and spending time hand harvesting special gems for wedding and event designs.

I’ve been immersed in gardens (as a spectator) for years. Beginning in the rose beds at my grandfather’s house and stretching to the flower beds at my parent’s house, there is NO GARDEN safe from my shears!

Planting irises with my dad, “helping” in the parish garden, working at botanical gardens, and even spending a summer as a farm hand here in Fairfield County my life and my seasons have revolved around the raised beds of my communities.

There is something special about being connected to the soil and while I’m not great at gardening (the verb) I am great at appreciating what is grown from these special places and I do my best to bring their joy and abundance to all of you.

That is why I am SO attached to locally grown flowers. The healing and joy multiplying properties of a local flower cannot be compared to an import and knowing this stem was lovingly cultivated by someone close to you makes it all the more special.

This week I’ve been tucked into the Lily of the Valley patch my mother in law and I transplanted two summers back and it has been incredible to share these blossoms with a friend or two.

Happy growing season, may you find some garden blossoms in your hands soon.

Earth Day 2025

As a florist I feel like a shepard for the earth. Called to work with an artistic medium tied to the environment.

Yet…the field at times feels destructive.

Floral stems and greens shipped from a hemisphere away. Harsh chemical coated product, and less than ideal farm working conditions. It hardly made sense to me that something so beautiful could be so monstrous.

That’s when we began to think and work differently.

Seasonally minded and managed designs intended to honor the Earth and its seasonal spins. An abandonment of comfortable but harmful mechanics (bye-bye floral foam) and a commitment to end to end floral waste management.

Thankfully farming and supply partners such as and others make it easier and easier to work with outstanding local flowers and we are excited to continue growing our web!

We are so fortunate to have a home as spectacular as our planet and as someone working directly with fruits of the world it feels important to honor and respect our home.
