Julia & Jake 08.23.2025

There are not enough words to adequately wrap this day into effusive enough prose.

An entire year of planning and design work has settled into incredible gratitude for the wedding flower journey we shared with these two.

Countless laugh filled style meetings, secret bouquet ribbon planning with family members, moments of celebration and immense joy as we watched a one of a kind wedding day story unfold.

“Thank you, thank you!” Is all that comes to mind as I reflect on the quintessential New England summer day we experienced last weekend.

You may wonder, why am I a florist thankful to my clients? It’s simple, without their trust, collaboration, idea generation and partnership none of these weddings ever come to life. For that there is endless gratitude for the journey we shared with this dynamic duo.

More than a Pinterest board come to life Julia and Jake’s wedding is the epitome of what I dream all Three Roots weddings to be. Collaborative, emotive, floral abundant and rooted in deep service for our couples. Yes, my job is to design flowers but at my heart my goal is to serve you and yours.

Your joy is our conduit for continued creation and there may never be enough words to express the immense gratitude we always feel working your wedding days…

More thoughts to come but for now endless newlywed wishes to Julia & Jake 🤍

Blue and white, white and blue, coastal nods in wedding day blooms.

Reflecting on the beauty of this timeless color palette with endless possibilities as we head into the weekend. (Yes, I think about the weekend on Monday, it is just a wedding vendor thing.)

A seaside breeze and breathe of crisp Connecticut air hold the memories of what was and what is to be dear.

We’re almost always drawing inspiration from past design suites into current weddings. How does that make sense for a custom florist? Well, if I don’t have a roadmap of where I was how can I tell you how we’ll expand and grow into something new for you? Trusting the process and past design suites allows me to plant and tend to new ideas and designs for you…trust me, when you see what we have planned for this weekend you will know what I mean 😉

Wedding Florist, Color-Obsessed Visual Artist, Rambunctious Team Leader, just a few of the hats worn by me at the studio.

Since 2021 myself, Charley and our incredible team of freelancers have been working closely with discerning couples to craft high touch wedding flower experiences.

Sourcing from hyper local Connecticut flower farms, and other national floral sources we have built an incredible network of flower and wedding vendor friends who help us bring it all together. What’s best of all for you? Now five years in we’ve seen *so* much and are ready for whatever adventure your wedding may throw our way. Extra tables with 2 weeks out from the event? No problem. Frustrating planning partners who are a bit “opinionated”, we’ve got YOUR back. You name it and we will manage it alongside you to bring incredible wedding flowers to life.

We’re counting down our last EIGHT WEDDINGS of the season and we have some dazzling floral design stories left to tell. Classic coastal color palettes, electric harvest inspired suites, and more are in store as we round out the 2025 season.

Ready to talk 2026 flowers? Send me a DM and let’s get to dreaming and scheming!

Dahlia season has begun and it has us reflecting on some of our favorite past design suites from this time of year.

The eclipse between fall and summer is always fascinating as you juggle the descent into fall without running too close to autumnal sun. How do you balance wedding day color palettes with the unfurling of mum petals? Is there such a thing as too much golden orange in the center of a zinnia? Questions swirl with minimal answers and the dance of seasonal flower design float from designer hands to wedding venues.

We’re heading into the second half of our wedding and event season and will have plenty of glimpses of this delicate tango to share as the season unfolds. Up next a sweet celebration for J & J at Stamford Yacht Club (plus so many other incredible weddings to come!)

One Year at The Ice House

In August 2024 I took a leap! Booking weddings larger than we’d ever seen and fully aware that we had outgrown our home studio the team and I packed shop and moved to our own river side slice of floral heaven.

Nestled on the United Marine Harbor Yard our new-ish studio has welcomed a new era for Three Roots. Dedicated cooler space, client meeting areas, and a spacious work room filled with ample storage we have been able to reach even better heights in our fabulous boat yard studio.

As we look forward to 2026 we continue to book grander weddings that allow us to highlight American grown flowers in wonderful ways. Electric color palettes, kind clients, and artist guided hearts continue to be some of our studio cornerstones and have a studio to let our ideas fly has been out of this world.

Thank you for the support and the opportunity to work with all of you on our dreams, we cannot wait to see what is next!

Something special for a friend!

Yesterday myself and Brian traveled to Long Island to deliver wedding flowers for Siena and Matt. Longtime friends of the studio it was such a joy to bring flowers to life for them.

Featuring cosmos, roses, lacey hydrangea, snapdragons, and lisianthus the design suite was abuzz with fluffy and fluttering all white and green blossoms and foliage.

Certainly a treat to bring these wedding flowers designs to life for our friends, and we cannot wait to hear about their blissful day. (There was magic in the air as a thunderstorm split in two narrowly missing the venue allowing the ceremony to take place outside!!!! A wedding day miracle for sure!)

We are beginning a new adventure here at the studio and we cannot wait to share more soon! The best part about business ownership are the endless possibilities for growth, expansion and evolution…truly a wild ride over here at all times.

We’re settling into an administrative stretch as we prep for the final eight weddings of the season and we are excited about the days ahead. Colorful and impactful palettes, incredible design vignettes, and the best clients ever we are *ready* for everything else in store this season.

Did I ever tell you about the weekend where we had 5,000 stems of local flowers (and a maple tree) sourced all from Connecticut farms for our couple?

This June 2023 weddings will forever hold a special place in mine and the team’s heart.

When our California farms failed to get their crop delivered on time (the growing conditions that season were bleak) our Connecticut flower friends jumped into action and helped filled our rose-sized gap with incredible flowers and foliage.

And yes, that included one of our farms to cut down a partial maple tree canopy so we could craft a full hidden garden wall in the ceremony space (I’ll show you those photos another time!)

Peonies, snapdragons, orlaya, maple and yes some roses from across 15 or so different CT farms came to life in a series of garden vignettes designed to bring the beauty of a seasonal garden in to the Keeler Tavern Garden House.

Working in hand thrown ceramic vessels and crafting abundant Dutch still life inspired compositions the final design story was expressive, organic, and expansive. From field to florist to client there is no greater honor than working with the best flowers and foliage available to bring our client’s visions to life.

Wedding flowers should evoke something for whoever interacts with them and this wedding evokes profound joy and admiration for all the helping hands that bring our client visions to life.

Is there anything more stunning than locally grown flowers?

Since 2021 we have been proud to feature 100% American grown flowers for our weddings and events, with more than 80% of our flowers coming from Connecticut farms.

I firmly believe that as a florist part of my role is celebrating seasonality, sustainability, and fine arts expression while holding true to my commitment of environmental stewardship.

For Kaitlin & Rob last July in Newport the team and I brought more than 1,000 stems of locally grown flowers to our travel studio along with CA grown garden roses and Alaskan peonies to bring to life the mid-summer pastel rainbow visions carefully curated by the bride and her planning partners.

You can have gorgeous and garden inspired wedding flowers all while engaging in sustainable practices. It takes a touch more time, coordination, and material flexibility but I promise the reward is ten-fold knowing the flowers are safely of and from the Earth.

Soft May blossoms shrouded with intention and care. What an honor and joy to being Maddy & Tim’s wedding to life earlier this season.

A soft color palette of cream, blue, green, butter yellow and a *pop* of mullberry. It was an incredible start to our 2025 weddings and events.

A day filled with abundant smiles, heartfelt jubilation, and incredible peace and love…this is what every wedding day should be!

As always 100% American grown flowers from our partner farms and providers helped bring this refined garden vision to life.

Meet Charley! My design partner in crime who the studio wouldn’t function without.

Since 2022 Charley has been at the helm of wedding design with me and it would never come together without his keen eye for color and willingness to work in the madness of wedding floristry!

He’s come a long way from being my bucket washing rockstar as he has begun to take on both design and logistic work here at the studio (p.s. he is even leading a couple of weddings this year!!!)

From being able to decipher my half directions to creating work plans to keep us all somewhat calm under pressure we sure are grateful to have Charley on our wedding day side!

Plus he is always available for insane flower adventures ranging from working in church gardens to driving 300+ miles with flowers in tow…truly we could not do any of it without this dynamic studio superstar!

😢 and to think he was once my student (ugh the emotions of it all, I’m so proud!!!) (I’m also afraid of blackmail hence the lack of silly photos.)

If you see him on wedding day be sure to stop him to say “hello” and “thank you” for all he does for all of us. Forever grateful and in awe of the magic he helps us bring to life!

A true champion of local flowers and fierce defender of your visions he works diligently behind the scenes to ensure your wedding day flower stories come to life. From carefully processing flowers to designing delicate bud vases and boutonnières the incredible skills he brings to the studio cannot be fully enumerated!
