L & M from Mid-September

Yellow, yellow, and mire yellow was on the docket for this sweet wedding day. Drawing inspiration from handmade and handsaws-draw familial illustrations a symphony of flowers and botanical elements sprang to life in artistically minded compositions.

Each table a miniature garden study featuring gooseberries, tomatoes, dahlias and more became the backdrop to a stunning day on the Hudson River.

It is not often we get such a vibrant and expressive color palette and we ran with the opportunity to highlight such color saturated blooms however…it was the Platinum Blonde dahlias for me, and another story about them will hit the feed soon.

Sweet early fall dreams ✨

A Cloud Inspired Head Table

Julia had one request a hydrangea forward head table that was brimming with oh yeah, hydrangeas.

More than 100 sprang forward for this 20 foot installation featuring California and Connecticut grown flowers from our outstanding partner farms. Foam-free, sustainably minded and picture perfect it was a feat of nature and physics to bring it to life.

Luisa & Mikey 08.23.2025

Electric, unexpected, textural and abundant…some of the words Luisa used to describe the wedding flower vision for her and Mikey’s late summer wedding.

Leaning on the incredible color available in late August a sea of peaches and cream dahlias, California hydrangea and frilly USA grown greenery came together to create an array of compositions and designs as fanciful and energized as this dynamic duo of lovebirds.

Merry Christmas from Three Roots

The tree is set with candles as my family and I welcome the light of the infant Christ into our home for this joy filled season. Reflecting back on these past 12 months I am filled with memories and moments of deep gratitude that came to life as I reoriented towards human forward service and living.

Christmas is our opportunity to sit in the peace of life made new as we are provided silent time to reflect, meditate, and acknowledge the blessings of the past year. Through the trials and triumphs of it all I count myself fortunate to have the community I do and find myself overwhelmed by the beauty that is this community; knowing that I am able to draw from a fountain of everlasting strength to always move forward.

As Mr. Three Roots and I sit by our tree and watch the candles slowly melt know we are holding you all in our thoughts and prayers as we blissfully rejoice in the beauty of our shared lives.

Merry Christmas to all who celebrate, may the birth of the incarnate Christ bring joy to you all.

Wiggly Squiggly Pink Princess Days

Hailey and Bill came to Three Roots a year out from their wedding day to plan an extravagant pink wedding flower bonanza! Sourcing all but a few stems of roses from Connecticut their wedding day design suite was a triumph of local flowers and incredible partnership between farm and florist.

The planning process with this dynamic duo was a breeze. Many meetings in person at the studio where we dreamed, mocked-up, and designed a custom tablescapes featuring arrangements in various sizes, candles, crystals and more.

The show stopping wedding arbor artfully framed their ceremony and brought the beauty of a Connecticut garden to Wadsworth and served as an incredible backdrop to the day.

A million hugs and well wishes to these two…especially as their adventure across the country continues to come to life!

There used to be a sign in an important classroom which read something like “I’m sorry I said artists aren’t superhero’s” it was hand drawn in children’s script and stuck out against a sea of student drawings and creations in my middle and high school art room.

The apology note of a 1st grader became a lifelong marker of the importance people can hold in our lives.

I’m not going to lie, this is 100% a Sarah appreciation post and I promise I will share about the details of her and Andy’s wedding soon but it is not often we get to know, love, and celebrate our hero’s in the way I was able to on her wedding day this past fall.

Sarah intercepted me as a student to nurture from the moment I was a prospective student at Wooster and has never stopped being my incredible and kind teacher of art and life. Not running away when I told her I swore off printmaking, providing me a safe studio to grow in as I explored adolescent trials and triumphs, and always encouraging me to not avoid my problems (even if that problem was as simple as a history test I hadn’t studied for) Sarah has always been one of the best teachers and humans I have been fortunate to know and grow up with as a guide.

She is the model for my own teaching practice and if I am half as kind, nurturing, encouraging and welcoming to my students as she is to her’s then maybe I am a successful teacher. Her magic knows no bounds and what a gift to be a student of her’s.

Being asked to design the flowers for her wedding was the ultimate moment of joy in a bleak fall and provided enough encouragement and hope to a season of discomfort. The team and I did all that we could to bring the wonder and beauty she deserved to the day and we are so grateful to the team of farms and farmers who rallied with us to bring the design suite to life.

A far cry from the pumpkin still life drawn in her class the final design story carried huge amounts of heart in each design and were a testament to the love folded throughout the day.

There is nothing more special than the people we are gifted in life and what an incredible joy to know that something so small as 8th grade art could grow into a journey such as this.

Hayley & Drew In September Purples & Blues

As the snow falls just outside my window I’ve finally had a chance to sit down and look through our 2025 galleries. What a joy it is to look back on all the couples we were fortunate enough to share this season with.

Hayley was our FIRST client to visit the brand new studio (after it was finally set up) and we spent an afternoon discussing dizzying amounts of color palettes because believe it or not there is still wonderful flower color magic left in the early weeks of fall.

We discussed peaches, purples, neutrals and more and finally landed on a stunning assortment of rich violet hues accented with bold chocolate and blue pockets of light.

The palette resulted in a stunning array of lisianthus, dahlias, roses, snapdragons and more from our incredible CT, NY and CA farms who all rallied with us to bring this unexpected seasonal color assortment to life.

08.23.2025 at The Stamford Yacht Club for Julia & Jake

Nestled on the beach of Shippan a sweet wedding day unfolded in front of family and friends as our incredible Three Roots couple exchanged vows and began their next chapter under a stunning August sun.

Billows of cloud-esque hydrangea with accents of roses, lilies and even a peony or two set the stage for an incredible American grown wedding flower story in the late days of summer 2025.

An impeccably design wedding story design suite featuring perfectly composed bouquets, artfully crafted tablescapes, and dazzling details across the venue created a one of a kind New England wedding soirée of delights.

Flowers aside, how fortunate the team and I were to parter with these two incredible humans for their wedding day. Each style meeting filled with laughs and beautiful wedding day dreaming it was an honor to bring this day to life. No detail too small, and no request too outlandish the day was a triumph of teamwork and communal vision ex*****on.

Enjoy this small selection of photos from the wedding day, many more details to come!

Happy Thanksgiving from the Three Roots! Yes I know, another small business post sharing how thankful I am that you all let me stay in business and follow my dream and isn’t it just the same canned cranberry style message you get post after post?

Let me be frank, this year was ROUGH! So much happened that I couldn’t even conceive possible that it often felt catching my breath was near impossible. However now that I am on the other side my gratitude is richer, deeper, more authentic and attuned to all that DID shape and mold my year.

So what am I thankful for? My people, my community, my family and friends, my health, my teaching career, the studio, and my faith. The glues that hold myself, the team, the studio and life together are so multi/faceted that it is impossible to simplify into one little post. There is so much more to life than this little business and as grateful as I am for Three Roots, it doesn’t exist without the community of people behind it and me.

From Charley helping to manage all the odd jobs of studio production, to my dad coordinating logistics and delivery. My sister listening to me complain about the maddness of wholesale relationships to my friends silently supporting via social media posts. How could I ever in any authentic or genuine enough pride share what gratitude really is or means and must be to be captured? It is too big a task and I am okay with that. You all know my gratitude for you because it comes from actions not words.

Thank you for allowing me to be part of your flower lives and thank you to those who are part of mine ✨💗✨

Who doesn’t love a bouquet brimming with peonies and roses? This timeless duo is the ultimate spring time wedding day bouquet combo and a perennial favorite at the studio.

Due to a stunning array of hues and petal structures for both flowers there is no shortage of compositional possibilities with these two blooms. From cabbage roses paired with tree peonies to double peonies with abundant spray roses the textural and color forward pairings available are nearly endless.

In June 2024 we elected for a pastel rainbow assortment of blossoms to create this cloud-esque composition brimming with seasonal delights…truly I enjoy designing in June more than maybe any other month (yikes, I said it!)

Dreaming of past bouquets as we look ahead to 2026 and all the beauty we will create. rumor has it hyacinth are in the ground for 2026 clients as I type!
