🎈 Happy 47th Anniversary to the Iconic Balloon Arch!

Some designs don’t just decorate events, they shape an entire industry. Today we’re celebrating one of the most iconic balloon creations ever made.

On July 6, 1979, legendary balloon artist Treb Heining created the world’s first balloon arch for Elijah Blue, the son of music icon Cher.

Forty-seven years later, the classic balloon arch remains one of the most recognized event designs in the world, welcoming guests to everything from Fortune 500 events to weddings, schools, and community celebrations.

Great designs inspire. Great artists leave a legacy. Treb’s innovation didn’t just create a new décor piece, it elevated what balloons could become and inspired generations of balloon professionals, including me.

One of the highlights of my career was attending Treb Heining’s workshop at the World Balloon Convention in California. I’ll never forget watching his team work with incredible speed and precision. During his five-minute introduction, they built seven balloon columns with toppers that spelled “WELCOME.” By the time he finished speaking, the display was complete, and he was standing proudly in front of it. It was a masterclass in preparation, teamwork, and ex*****on.

The photo I’m sharing was taken with Treb Heining at The Balloon Wonderland event in Orlando, Florida, a moment I’m proud to look back on with someone whose work has had such a lasting impact on our industry.

Experiences like these continue to influence how we serve every client at Top Notch Balloon Creations. Behind every installation is a commitment to craftsmanship, efficiency, and creating an event experience that leaves a lasting impression.

The countdown to kickoff is always more exciting when the atmosphere matches the moment.

For years, Wayne State University has trusted Top Notch Balloon Creations to help elevate their campus celebrations, and we were honored to once again be part of the WSU World Cup FIFA Review & Watch Party. This year’s design kept it simple, fun, and photo-ready.

Not every event needs an over-the-top installation. Sometimes the goal is creating a space that sparks excitement, encourages photos, and brings people together before the first whistle.

A couple of jumbo soccer cleats, an oversized soccer ball, and bold school colors were all it took to transform the space into a fun, interactive focal point that guests couldn’t resist.
