We are still gleaming from this past weekend ✨ The LA Times called Fiddler on the Roof in Yiddish “magnificent,” praising the unforgettable performances and the way the story spoke to heritage, resilience, and community. At The Soraya, moments like these remind us why the performing arts are a home for empathy, memory, and hope.

We hope to continue being your beacon of joy, whether you need a laugh, a song to move your feet, or a night that simply lifts your spirit.

A concert version of National Yiddish Theatre Folksbiene’s acclaimed production of 'Fiddler on the Roof' in Yiddish has its West Coast premiere at the Soraya in Northridge.

✨ Tradition, heart, and community began in rehearsals and carried through to this weekend’s three unforgettable performances of Fiddler on the Roof in Yiddish at The Soraya. 🤍 The response was truly overwhelming!! So many of you shared your joy, your tears, and your gratitude for this once-in-a-lifetime experience.

The Los Angeles Times called it “Magnificent… anyone who was lucky enough to attend one of the three performances will long cherish the memory of this stunning musical experience.”

Thank you to our artists, partners at National Yiddish Theatre Folksbiene, and every audience member who made this opening weekend so meaningful. ❤️

Our Art Gallery reopens this Friday with Through the Eyes of David Labkovski: Sholem Aleichem and His Heroes! 🎨

This installation showcases the powerful work of David Labkovski (1906–1991), a Lithuanian Israeli Jewish artist who chronicled Jewish life in Vilna before the Holocaust and the resilience of survivors after.

Labkovski also illustrated the beloved stories of Sholem Aleichem, including Tevye the Milkman, the inspiration for Fiddler on the Roof.

📍 Visit the gallery on the Loge Level, open to ticket holders one hour before every Soraya performance and during intermission.

🎭 Don’t miss National Yiddish Theatre Folksbiene’s Fiddler on the Roof in Yiddish, a West Coast Premiere Soraya Concert production, with three performances:
Sat, Sept. 13 at 8PM
Sun, Sept. 14 at 3PM & 7PM

🎫 Tickets available at TheSoraya.org or 🔗 in bio.

"10 can’t-miss dance shows in and around L.A. this fall," by Jessica Gelt

GRAHAM100: The Martha Graham Dance Company launches it's centennial season at The Soraya, continuing our work pairing choreographers and composers with the world premiere of En Masse on Oct. 4 at 8 p.m.

"A new commission choreographed by Hope Boykin — (En Masse) marks the first time Graham’s work has been paired with the music of Leonard Bernstein. The posthumous partnership was inspired by a musical excerpt that was found in correspondence between the two arts legends. Christopher Rountree’s experimental classical ensemble will perform a new arrangement of Bernstein, as well as William Schuman’s score for “Night Journey,” — Jessica Gelt

Ode to Alice Coltrane: Also featured is the Alonzo King LINES Ballet performance this November at the Carpenter Performing Arts Center in Long Beach. The San Francisco company is set to perform to the music of American Jazz composer and musician Alice Coltrane. For those unable to make the trip to Long Beach this fall, the company will perform Ode to Alice Coltrane on Feb. 21 at 8 p.m. during The Soraya's 5th-annual Jazz at Naz festival (Feb. 1-21).

Each year the Los Angeles Times compiles a list of the best fall events happening in and around Los Angeles. This year The Soraya is proud to share that three programs in our 2025-26 Season have made the list. Here's one of those three features:

"The 16 most intriguing SoCal theater offerings this fall season," by Charles McNulty

Fiddler on the Roof in Yiddish: Tony nominee Steven Skybell reprises the role of Tevye joined by original Off-Broadway principal cast and local ensemble in National Yiddish Theatre Folksbiene's Fiddler on the Roof in Yiddish, directed by Joel grey in a special concert version. This Soraya Concert production will take place Sept. 13 at 8 p.m., and Sept. 14 at 3 p.m. and 7 p.m.

"According to Kenneth Turan, who wrote about the original New York production, “[T]he main benefit the new Tevye conveys is that by using the language the original characters spoke, it makes everything in the play more authentic and more affecting, cutting the schmaltz of Broadway with the specificity of a vibrant culture that is no more.” English supertitles for those who don’t understand Yiddish or already know the show by heart," - Charles McNulty

'Stereophonic,' 'Suffs' and' Jaja's African Hair Braiding' and a musical version of 'Working Girl' light up the fall theater season in Southern California.
