Join us for Arts Night Out Friday, June 13th, from 5:00-8:00 PM!
Enjoy captivating exhibits, live music, and a chance to connect with local artists.
🎤 Artist Talk at 7 PM featuring Sunny Allis and Jae Southerland!

On Friday, May 9, make SCMA one of your stops during Arts Night Out Northampton! Join us from 4–8pm for an evening of art, making, and community at the Smith College Museum of Art. Galleries open until 8pm.

From 4–7pm, enjoy hands-on art making and celebrate spring by creating multilayered flowers, inspired by Younes Rahmoun’s "Zahra-Saghira (Flower-Small)" and "Markib (Boat)." Draw with a spirograph tool or fold origami to make complex and vibrant botanical shapes.

From 5:30–6pm, join the curator of "Temporarily Ours: Contemporary Photography and Film" to discuss the film "Hashti Tehran" in the lower level gallery.

From 6–7pm, view the full screening of the film "Hashti Tehran" in the Cunningham Center for Prints, Drawings, and Photographs.

Our Premiering Potters Series continues for May Arts Night Out with Kate Sprankle! Kate's been working as a studio assistant at Snow Farm: The New England Craft Program while building her own kiln at home. Kate is currently working in porcelain with a decorative blue slip, drawing imagery of water and the river. "For Her" is a program born from the intense moments of connection I’ve shared with the women in my life—what I call “you too?” moments. Those stolen glances across a bar, the joyful oversharing of a girls' night, or the deep confessions that bind us in shared experiences.
This year, I’ve expanded that lens of connection, curating a program featuring music, poetry, and art created entirely by Massachusetts-based artists. Now more than ever, I believe it’s essential to celebrate and uplift the work happening in our local communities. In doing so, I’ve had the privilege of even more unexpected “you too?” moments.
This performance delves into diverse facets of the femme experience, giving voice to the lived-experiences of many. The composers and performers involved in this recital represent a broad range of perspectives across the gender spectrum. As artists, we work to celebrate the myriad of intersections of femme experiences and to promote conversation and connection.
