While making This week’s bouquets, I thought about Dolly Parton. She was a Wild fire, wild flower, and a one of a kind artist who understood and lived in the space that no one dared with unshaken identity. Truest form of self expression.

RIP Dolly Parton

In this extreme heat and humidity of August, everything stalls. plants prioritize their energy into survival mode rather growth. Typically, this means that they stop throwing out new flower buds—yes even though they are getting water. The drought tolerant and heat-loving plants will be perform a touch better than the others, but less than 10 folds.

What thrives in stagnant, humidity atmosphere is the microscopic organisms like fungus (powdery mildew), bacteria, and viruses.

Sounds lovely right? Yes, it is because everything that happens interlinks— this is farming, this is the core of biology in front of our eyes. It’s is the beauty of life cycling through the seasons.

and how lovely that monarch caterpillars feasting on asclepias plants while pairs of mature monarchs dance with each other after feasting on zinnias blooms and swallowtails are doing the same. Hummingbirds flutter like helicopters on a mission. And the word got out to the Deer about this flower farm is a buffet and picked out the best of our Lisianthus, amaranths, delphs, and now the baby zinnias. Just like many who don’t eat their greens eg the perfect winterbor and Russian red kales, zukes, tomatoes, and bell peppers.

Lesson here is: Everyone and everything wants flowers. 🫠

Walking down each beds and I can foresee an abundance of flowers In addition to the existing summer favs we’ve been enjoying. newcomers that will be ready in a few weeks:

Delphinium (line)
sunflowers (focal)
Sahara rudbeckia (focal/secondary)
Cosmos (focal/secondary)
dianthus (filler)

It is best to preorder bouquets/arrangements (in vase) for yourself, gifting, or events. We work hard to ensure that each bloom is spotless and perfect AND that colors pairing make sense.

Now that the cancer ♋️ Mercury retrograde has passed, I can come out to share this with you:

My heart has felt heavy. My mind has been fuzzy. My sleep (4-5 hours) has occupied w/ bad dreams.

It’s been heavy, and with a weight of such kind I cannot help but reflect on what “Value” means. What does value means to me as a person to myself and it means to me as person to you. To be more human, to be more soulful—the kind of soul that true to my own. To have value in this period of our lives—what does that really mean right now?

How can I be and do more of the value I am capable of—the kind of value that nothing can take away from me and if it can be taken away, it can not be scaled up. (I’m referring to AI here.)

I am not fearful of what the technologies have access to right now now. I will always have autonomy over my own decisions and fate. I will always have my heart and my eternal (and internal) fire to push forward.

Fire comes with eagerness—but I think this type of eagerness is different than before. I am driven to relearn how to be softer, more vulnerable in a way that I have always known. I am wiser to choose myself and those who matters.

It’s been a little more than a decade now in this line of work, and I have an archive of knowledge in plants and flowers that are not only their seasons but also their physiological growth patterns. It’s amazing that I get to connect to each crop and in a way collaborate with them to get them to grow with others in such harmony (ie interplanting). I can firmly say that This is not something anyone can just pick up on their first few years of growing.

I am so blessed to have the opportunity and privilege to express myself in creative ways via weddings & events florals. I don’t think I can be fully ME without this creative outlet.

Sometimes I feel that I am a vehicle (the middle person) between the flowers and you! It’s has been quite a journey in this space and it will only get better. So thank you from the bottomless bottom of my heart for sharing your celebrations with me.

I’m so grateful that you’re here.

My name is Thanh. I am now 39yo, revolving around the sun with the moonlight brightly lit. 🔥

Sky lit with lightning and Fireworks colored the skies for this year’s 4th of July followed by 3 consecutive days of rain to break the week long heat wave—It can’t be more perfect or maybe it’s also the view of Boats floating atop water bodies as we indulge cancer season—to flow, feel, experience and to live the colors of each moment.

Zinnia bouquets for CSA shares and colorful stems filled farmers market tables. We love colors, esp. the ones that brings nostalgia. We love a fun-filled Summer.

We’ve seeded more goodies for fall harvest, and can’t wait to unravel new flowers each week for you. 🌊🌈🍑🍒🍅🫐🍓🌺🌹💐🌼
