North Charleston Operations and Important Information for Residents
NORTH CHARLESTON, SC – A storm is forecast to bring snow, extreme cold, and hazardous travel conditions to our area. Please take this event seriously and prepare to stay safe.
Expect 3–4 inches of snow, dangerously cold wind chills that can cause frostbite with prolonged exposure, and icy roads and bridges that may lead to closures and hazardous driving conditions. Travel could become unsafe very quickly, so if you do not need to be on the roads, please stay home.
City Operations & Schedule Changes
• All City offices and facilities will be CLOSED Monday, February 2
• Municipal Court: Any appearance scheduled for Monday will be rescheduled. Impacted individuals will receive notice by mail.
• Trash and Garbage: Collection will run one day behind all week (Monday moves to Tuesday, Tuesday to Wednesday, etc.).
• Bulk Trash Collection and Yard Debris: There will be no bulk collection next week.

For residents needing a safe, warm place to stay, the following warming centers will be open for men, women, and children. Pets are accepted at the Summerville location.

• Friday, Jan. 30: 7 p.m. – 9 a.m.
• Saturday, Jan. 31: Noon – release time TBD
• Sunday, Feb. 1: Shelter in place; intake available any time
