It's Opening Weekend at the Park-McCullough! We've swung open the doors after a productive (and exciting!) week of volunteer training, cleaning, primping, and preening! Have you seen the curated collection of artwork by Ella Sallie McCullough (she was widely known as Sister Mary Veronica later in life, as well as throughout the art world)? Have you tried the new audio tour? This c. A 1865 Victorian jewel provides an intimate look into four generations of a family, as well as the local, regional, and national history they were a part of. The museum is open for guided and/or self-guided tours through October 12, Fridays - Sundays, 10 am - 2 pm. Of course, the grounds and gardens are open daily, dawn to dusk, all year. We hope to see you soon!

Thank you for authoring this story, Tyler Resch—we've always appreciated your scholarship and research at the Park-McCullough! Both enterprise and philanthropy run deep across the generations of the Halls/Parks/McCulloughs; this multi-faceted peek into the Glastonbury Wilderness Area brings this to light. A lesser-known and intriguing story surrounding one of Hall Park McCullough's affinities!

Thank you for publishing Bennington Banner.

Hall Park McCullough’s reputation as a collector of Vermontiana stands without challenge. A lawyer with offices on Wall Street, a family apartment on Fifth Avenue, and a home in the

We need you, volunteers! Join us on June 29th and/or June 30th to learn more about volunteer opportunities at the Park-McCullough and prep for the season ahead!

Consider joining the volunteer team at the Park-McCullough. Our volunteer crew is truly invaluable to the organization across grounds and gardens, for buildings and the collection, to keep public and private events running smoothly, and to engage with museum visitors. Do you have an appreciation for history, the arts, and community? Come volunteer with us!

June 29th is a Pre-Season Info Session and Volunteer Gathering designed to introduce you to the many opportunities available, provide a chance to meet some of our beloved volunteer team members, and answer your questions. Light refreshments will be served. June 30th offers specific training for docents (1 PM), Guest Services (2 PM), and Gardens Maintenance (4 PM). We’ll explore new topics relevant to this season and learn processes and best practices.

Join us for one or both! Please RSVP to [email protected], or Museum Director, Polly Raine, at [email protected] by end-of-day Friday, June 27.

A little about Park-McCullough

The Park-McCullough House is one of the finest, most significant, and best preserved Victorian Mansions in New England. It is an important example of a country house in the Second Empire Style and incorporates architectural features of the Romantic Revival style that were popular at the time. To a great extent, the House retains the integrity and impact of its original design. Built in 1864-65 by attorney and entrepreneur Trenor Park, the House was designed by Henry Dudley, a prolific New York architect of the popular firm of Diaper and Dudley.

The house, a 35-room mansion built by skilled artisans over the course of 18 months, is a prime example of Second Empire design, and represents a specific period of architectural history in the United States. Influenced both by British opulence and natural patterns, architects, designers and artists in the Victorian era brought together many different themes with a special attention to detail

Our cultural programming happens in (almost) every season. On our grounds and in our structures, we host a classical music series, a summer croquet league, membership meetings, theater productions, readings, dinners, music camps, and other public events.

Green manicured lawns, radiant flowers and topiary, makes the house one of the most verdant places to hold your wedding or event. For weddings, this Victorian mansion is regarded among the most romantic places to tie the knot.
