Before he was “Hollywood,” Marquise Brown was a Florida kid playing at a California junior college, all while working at an amusement park to make ends meet.
Since California JUCO’s don’t offer scholarships, Brown had to find a job while balancing football and school. So he found work at Six Flags Magic Mountain as a ride operator.
Brown didn’t have a car, so he walked to work. But according to his former employees, his attitude was infectious and he excelled at making others smile.
His nickname used to be “Jet” but it forever changed to “Hollywood” after he burst onto the scene with 265 yards and 2 TD’s against Oklahoma State in 2017. He has Gus Johnson to thank for that.
Hollywood became the No. 1 wide receiver for a team that won a Big 12 title and made it to the College Football Playoff.
In 2018, he again led a team in receiving yards that won the Big 12 and made a CFP.
At one point, Hollywood had zero FBS offers, but a few years later his name was called as a first round NFL Draft selection by the Baltimore Ravens.
