Primrose Funeral Service Founded in 1931, Primrose has served Norman families with compassion for over 95 years. A place where tradition meets modern comfort.

Our new Venue offers a bright, flexible event space for celebrations of life, memorials, weddings, gatherings & more. In 1931, Odies Primrose and George Jansing established Jansing-Primrose Funeral Home in Norman, Oklahoma. In 1943, the business became Primrose Funeral Home, and relocated to North Porter Avenue in 1947. The second generation of the Primrose family ownership began with Ben Primrose in 1973 and continued until his retirement in 1994. Both Ben and his father were licensed funeral directors, and Odies held a 50-year service pin with the Oklahoma Funeral Directors Association. With a welcoming atmosphere designed to make families feel comfortable, our funeral home features a large and inviting foyer, visitation rooms furnished for comfort and reflection, and a warm chapel that can seat approximately 250 people. We pride ourselves on customizing each funeral as a celebration of the life lived. We believe that funeral services should reflect the lives of those being honored, and we strive to create meaningful tributes to those who have meant so much to family and friends.

You planned for everything. Except this.

You made the will.
You named the beneficiaries.
You made sure the house, the savings, and the things you've worked for would be taken care of.

You thought about what your family would need when you're gone.

But did you think about what they'll have to decide?

The phone calls.
The arrangements.
The questions they may not know how to answer.

Burial or cremation?
A service or something more intimate?
How will everything be paid for?

And all of those decisions arriving when they're simply trying to process losing you.

That's the part of planning ahead we don't talk about enough.

Preplanning and prepaying for your funeral can give your family two incredibly meaningful gifts: fewer decisions to make and fewer financial worries to carry.

Your wishes are known. Your arrangements are made. And the expenses you've planned and paid for are already taken care of.

This National Estate Planning Awareness Week, remember that protecting your family isn't just about what you leave them.

It's also about what you don't leave them to figure out.

We gathered Friday to honor a brave hero.

We gathered to honor a fearless adventurer.

We gathered to honor a loving and caring soul.

We gathered to honor Greyson Lee Burnettt, beloved son, grandson, brother, nephew, cousin, and friend.

We began our time together with a tribute to Greyson’s favorite movie hero, Indiana Jones. And, as Indy reminded us, “It’s not the years, honey. It’s the mileage.”

Although Greyson’s years on this earth numbered only twenty, he packed so much mileage into those years.

Mileage in memories.
Mileage in friendships.
Mileage in dreams.
Mileage in love.

And in the lives of everyone fortunate enough to know him, that mileage will carry on for years to come.

Sometimes, the setting does all the talking.

Take a closer look.

For National Cremation Placement Day at Sunset Memorial Park Cemetery, we didn’t need elaborate decorations. The garden was already beautiful.

We simply brought the chairs into the landscape, arranged them naturally along the pathways, and invited a celebrant to guide us through a meaningful ceremony.

The sunshine filtering through the trees. The pond in the distance. The open air. The quiet beauty of a garden created for remembrance.

Even the arrival was special. The urns arrived by limousine, adding a dignified and memorable touch to a day centered on establishing a permanent place of remembering.

Flowers adorned the places the families had chosen, and each family member was given a flower to place in honor of their loved one. It was a simple, personal gesture that made the gathering even more meaningful.

Our green canopy found a new purpose, too, providing a welcoming space for catering while leaving the garden open for the ceremony.

It was simple. It was natural. It was meaningful.

Thank you to everyone who joined us and helped make this day special. ❤️

This is just a glimpse of the day. A video recap is coming soon, and we look forward to sharing more of the moments that made it meaningful.

Tomorrow at Noon | National Cremation Placement Day

We would love to welcome you to the gardens at Sunset Memorial Park tomorrow at noon.

We have worked so hard to create a place that feels peaceful, beautiful, and meaningful, and tomorrow is an opportunity to share it with our community.

Join us for a brief, optional community ceremony, followed by a catered reception. Take a walk through the gardens or around the pond, ask questions, or simply spend some time with us and experience the space for yourself.

There is no expectation to make a decision and no pressure. We simply want to open our doors, share what we have worked so hard to create, and let you see a place we are proud of.

Sometimes, the best way to understand a place is to experience it for yourself.

Tomorrow at noon at Sunset Memorial Park. We would love to welcome you.

Families To Receive $1,000 Toward Permanent Placement of Loved Ones’ Ashes

The decisions surrounding a loved one’s cremation don’t always end with the funeral. For families unsure of what to do with their loved one’s ashes, Primrose Funeral Service and Sunset Memorial Park Cemetery are offering guidance and support during the inaugural National Cremation Placement Day on Saturday, Oct. 17. Each participating family at Sunset Memorial Park will receive a $1,000 certificate toward permanent placement of their loved one’s cremated remains.

The certificate will cover the full cost of placement in the park's ossuary, providing families with an accessible and dignified option for permanently caring for their loved one's ashes. Cemetery staff will be available to review other options for permanent placement, as well, such as niches, cremation gardens. Anyone with ashes at home is invited to attend the event, regardless if Primrose served their family.

There will be a brief community memorial service, allowing families to gather, remember their loved ones and participate in a flower placement.

Come walk the grounds, ask questions, and consider what a permanent resting place could mean for the people you love and the generations who follow.

There is no pressure to make a decision that day. Just an opportunity to consider something that may never have crossed your mind:

What can we do today to ensure the people we love are not left with the question...what do we do with their urn?

Some parents have a lifetime of memories. Others have only moments, dreams, and all the things they imagined they'd get to experience.

But the love is no less real. And neither is the loss.

Today, we remember the little ones who were here for far too short a time, including those whose parents never had the chance to hold them.

To every family carrying this kind of love and grief, your baby matters. Your story matters. And you deserve to have both remembered. 🤍

Did you know cremation has been part of modern American history for 150 years?

Today, nearly 2 out of 3 Americans choose it. But here's something many people don't realize: cremation doesn't mean you can't have a traditional funeral, a celebration of life, or a special place to remember someone you love.

There are so many meaningful ways to honor a life.

This Saturday, October 17, marks the first National Cremation Placement Day. A chance to learn more about those options and the importance of keeping memories alive for generations to come. ❤️
